It's not surround, just plain stereo, but remastered with Sony's DSD technology. I've compared some tracks, and it appears that the Sony CDs sound slightly cleaner and more dynamic, however the sound seems less natural to me, it has something of a "metallic" edge. But the changes are globally infinitesimal, I don't think Sony went through the original matérial, they probably have just remixed the RCA masters.
