Les - that makes two of us, though I have been able to cobble together a pretty good approximation of tracks.
And if only I wasn't 3 years late in answering you.
For those still curious:
According to the commentary on the DVD, in pre-production the director(s) of HAUTE TENSION were introduced by a colleague to the composer Francois-Eudes Chanfrault who had just graduated from a classical conservatory in France. The director commentary claims that a significant amount of the music that ended up in the final film already existed and was played for them on their first meetings with Chanfrault, where they immediately realized they found the right person for the job. It seems obvious to me that Francois' elaborate full length sound design/mix had a profound affect on the way the film was shot and paced, rather than the standard other way around.
While there are some conventional pop, reggae and rock tracks in the film, Chanfrault's work is an undeniable masterpiece of suspense and terror atmosphere. There has been no official release of any collected soundtrack, but I know that some internet denizens have manually assembled some of the 'regular' tunes on various P2P networks (try emule). The 'normal' stuff:
Ricci e Poveri - Sara perche ti amo (dance pop)
U roy - Runaway Girl (reggae)
Felix Gray & Didier Barbelivien - A Toutes les Filles (romantic pop)
Muse - New Born (rock)
Sonic Youth - Superstar (sonic youth covering the carpenters)
If your interest is in the ominous electronic score (which dominates and completely elevates the film) do not walk - RUN - to Chanfrault's web site. You will find imbedded flash players that allow for listening to three of the best tracks in their entirety. He also has quite a bit of other material on the site and these other releases are similar enough in style and tone that I think most could have existed alongside the final pieces in that film beautifully.
Here is a link to his site, and his comments on the aborted release. I can't fuckin' wait to hear more of Chanfrault's work, as I firmly believe this to be one of the best, most effective terror soundscapes in the history of the genre:

"High Tension" original soundtrack | abandonned
Once there was a hope that Thrive Music would release it for the U.S but they get in touch with me too lately. Although, the french producer EuropaCorp™, doesn't give a fuck. You'll have to watch the movie or wait untill i put one of these tracks on a next album.
all titles here included in "High Tension" by alex aja (Silver Grand Prize - sitges, spain) | 2003
| faustina mauricio mercedes part iv - 3'42
| out of the mundial - 6'15
| celebration A2 - 2'56
And for the many people still thinking the soundtrack is a 1' syncronized song of Muse and a 20" of "Sara perche ti amo", i have the pleasure to tell you that it's a 52' electronic score which is a mix of original work & previous pieces.";
