Question

What are your favorite Carlo Rustichelli's scores ?

Having just read the sad news about Rustichelli's passing, I went to listen to I QUATTRO DELL'AVE MARIA.
Ever since I first heard this magnificent score, I name it as my top favorite score, and I am sure everyone who ever heard it knows why. Apart from this, however, I know just about ten of maestro's scores, and so I would like to know any opinions about his bests.

Hello,
I don't own any of Carlo Rustichelli's film scores, But I am always looking to expand my film score collection. Could you give a description of the music on the soundtrack you have listed as your favorite by Rustichelli "I Quattro Dell'Ave Maria"?

Best Regards,

Hi there,

My favourite Rustichelli score is the (currently unavailable) music for Mario Bava's "Blood and Black Lace" (aka Sei Donne per l'Assassino). I wish someone somewhere would release this on CD.

L'UOMO, L'ORGOGLIO, LA VENDETTA - superb full blown symphonic score, great use of guitar. I prefer this over I QUATTRO DELL AVE MARIA.
SALVO D'AQUISTO - another great symphonic score.
GARIBALDI - beautiful score to unknown tv film.
BUBU - superb melodic score deserves to be more well known.
ZANNA BIANCA ALLA RISCOSSA - great powerful score available on Saimel CD.
PROBABILITA ZERO - powerful action score.
LA REGAZZA DI BUBE - some beautiful themes.
If you want to get familiar with his music check out the recent compilation on CAM. Some great themes like 'Lunga Notte del '43, La'.
Cheers Dave.

Why did you bother posting this.? The only thing it proves my friend is that you are indeed a nightmare!!

Thanks for your replies !

I QUATTRO DELL'AVE MARIA is very clever score for a western. Rustichelli combined several themes (not all of them typically western!) here with a great source music, and really does his job. The arrangements of the themes are great - the first main theme is somehow slow and lazy, but hear it in the finale ! It is a pity that the expanded CD release is very rare and long sold out. I would sell my house for it.
I also agree with LA RAGAZZA DI BUBE. It really has great themes, though it is more 'chamber' then I QUATTRO.

I am about to get L'UOMO, L'ORGOGLIO, LA VENDETTA and also MARE MATTO, hopefully in a short time. Can't wait for them !

Going this far back nets a lot of really interesting questions!

If my memory serves correct, the only score by CR I distinctly recall is ACE HIGH. Pic starred Eli Wallach, Terence Hill & Kevin McCarthy. Music for fabulous roulette wheel climax is unforgettable. Check it out on DVD to see (and hear)for yourself.

James: it's no coincidence that you're speaking about the same title, Ace High and I Quattro dell'Ave Maria are just 2 names for the same movie and score. I absolutely agree with you. The 2CD Digitmovies release is a treasure.
