Well I'm looking for this score too.
Anyone know where I can find it ??
frozen_yoghurt, January 8, 2005; 3:40 PM

Ok, There's a scene in Dead Calm where Billy Zane's on the Deck of the boat listening to some mellow music, not part of the sound track (it sounds like something you'd want to drink Maitai's too in Key West). I have always wanted to get my hands on THAT song or album, but it's not referenced anywhere in the credits.
Any ideas?

I have to agree with whomever wrote this --> 'Ok, There's a scene in Dead Calm where Billy Zane's on the Deck of the boat listening to some mellow music, not part of the sound track (it sounds like something you'd want to drink Maitai's too in Key West). I have always wanted to get my hands on THAT song or album, but it's not referenced anywhere in the credits.'
I been trying to find that song/album for weeks now. Does anybody know what that song is titled?
, August 8, 2005; 10:31 PM

You can find all these songs on Tim O'Connor cd "The Hitch-Hiking Poet". I scoured the internet for months just to find that out. I can not find the album for purchase anywheres. If anyone has a hope... please, for the love of God, tell me. Thanks!!

It took awhile, but I tracked down Tim O'connor. I received an email from him (the guy is The Goods) today with an address to exchange your greenbacks for the CD, Run Over By Love, which features his 3 songs in the movie Dead Calm. I am going to mail the cash (going against my NY instinct). I will respond back when (see I said 'when') I get the CD or you can email me (MLusthaus@hotmail.com), and I will reply back with all the info he provided me.
mlusthaus, November 2, 2005; 2:30 PM

I am also looking for the spk wired for sound track. If anyone out there has breathless in mp3 or cd let me know how i can get a copy or download it.

Response to Re: Dead Calm - Stefanation
I too am looking for the operatic tune in the background toward very end of movie. HELP??
fortheblog, November 3, 2006; 11:28 AM

I have SPK's album with In Flagranto Delicto on it as MP3 if anyone is interested. It is that song
when Nicole Kidman is looking for her husband in the dark while he's still on the sinking boat.
madscientistdave, February 25, 2007; 12:34 AM

What is the music at the beginning of the movie ?
evriel, March 2, 2007; 11:52 AM

I too am trying to find the music from the scene where Billy Zane is dancing on the deck of the boat.
I remembered seeing the title "Pass the isopropyl alcohol" but I could be mistaken.
I've tried this in various search engines but so far no luck.
Does anyone know the track or perhaps have a copy ?
Been looking for ages.
s.parry, April 17, 2007; 8:07 AM

That wonderfull SPK track "in flagranto delicto" can also be found on a compilation called "The Tryanny of The Beat- Original Sountracks From the Grey Area" on Mute records # 9 61237-2.
I was shocked to hear that song on "Dead Calm" of all things. I have not watched that movie in years and years but I HAVE listned to the Trynanny of the Beat compilation several times and that SPK track is one of favorites. That album might be hard to find. Good luck!
captain643, April 18, 2007; 9:24 PM

The name of the track where Billy Zane is dancing on the deck of a boat is easy.
Its......'The Rolling Stones', 'Shine a light'.
Hope that helps.
Bob.
skafc, September 20, 2008; 9:29 PM

I just listened to the Rolling Stones "Shine a light" - and I'm 99% sure it's NOT the song Billy Zane was dancing to on deck.

BILLY ZANE DANCING ON DECK: music from Dead Calm
I just contacted Tim O'Connor about his CD (I purchased it) which has the three songs featured in Dead Calm, including the one of him dancing on deck (really cool song). THis is Tim's response, posted here with his permission:
Thanks for your interest in my music...The three songs on Billy Zane's
cassette player on the sail boats deck are written an performed by me, Tim
O'Connor. Including the one Billy is dancing to, that song is called,
"Who Stole The Isopropyl Alcohol", Once down below in one of the main
cabins of the Sail Boat, I think they play a segment of one song on the boats
inboard stereo system, that song may be a Rolling Stone song I can't
remember which one if it is its just a short clip. Speaking of clips, there are
none. My cd, "Run Over By Love", an 11 O'riginal song cd of me, it
features the 3 songs I have in the film "Dead Calm". Its recorded by
Pat Simons of the Doobie Brothers, he plays lead guitar on four of the 11 tracks
on the CD. Its a very good CD, with me performing the 3 songs from the Film Dead
Calm, just like in the movie. Including "Who Stole The Isopropyl
Alcohol", the song
Billy is dancing to. I live in Holland, I solo sailed
over here, and live on my boat. My cd's cost 15 euro each, that includes
the shipping costs, shipped Dutch Priority Airmail anywhere in the World. Soon
as I receive Payment , I mail you the CD right away!. There are two ways to send
me a payment, the fastest and best way, is over the internet, using Pay Pal,
www.paypal.com , if you don't have an account with them, you got to their
website and register, then its easy to send money. My account with them is
registered under my email address.
timoconnor@hitchhikingpoet.com
The only other way to send me a payment is cash in the mail.
Well concealed in an enevelope , like in a birthday or Christmas Card.
Or whatever suits you. Mail it and your return address to my snail mail
address.
I live on my boat, so I have a Dutch Po Box. Its called a Postbus.
Tim O Connor
postbus 4217

soon as I receive payment, I mail you your cd right away!
then email you and let you know what day it got shipped.
Pay Pal automatically informs me by emai when new funds
are put on my account. I go to their website, log in, and
transfer those new funds to my bank account, it takes my
bank 3 bizness days to process the transaction, soon as I
can withdraw the money from the bank money machine here,
I do it, then with cash in hand proceed to the post office
around the corner then mail you your cd. Then email you and
tell you what day it got mailed. Thats how it works from this end.
Hope my reply to your inquiry answered all you purchasing questions,
and more. Thanks again for your interest and hopefully support.
Have a nice day, hope to hear back from you soon. Feel free to
tell me something about yourself, I'm currious. The only way to get
this cd is from me directly. I depend
on cd sales and live performances
in order to survive here. Thanks again...
All the best, stay cool...

chewedpupp, November 25, 2008; 9:28 AM

I just watched the movie and do not recall hearing a Rolling Stones song? If there is one, it can't be "Shine A Light" since that is the name of the 2008 album, which has the song on it. The dancing on the deck scene song is "Who Stole The Isopropyl Alcohol?"
phaota1, October 24, 2010; 8:32 PM
