Cometa records

Does anyone know the story on Cometa Records? I have heard that it was Ennio Morricone's private label, but it also had non-EM releases. Also, what is the deal with the "Special Numbered Series for Collectors?" Most of the ones I've seen have it printed on the back with " /500" but many of them don't have any number written on them. Did they only use one stock cover for both the nubered series and the regular issues?
