HELLS ANGELS (1930) USED IN AVIATOR?
Does anyone know for certain whether or not the music in THE AVIATOR that underscores the footage of HELL'S ANGELS is from the original 1930 film score or newly composed by Howard Shore?
If it is the former, is there a recording of the original 1930 score?
Thanks!

hi, im not certain if the music played during the images of hell's angels are from the original film.
what i can tell you though, is that it's not howard shore's score.
its tchaikovsky's fifth symphony movement II
its a very good symphony, i suggest you get the whole thing, but if you want just the one played during the images of hell's angels, it's like i said in the second movemente of tchaikovsky's fifth symphony
during the preview of "the outlaw" where it is criticised for showing too much cleavage, tchaikovsky's sixth symphony is played, the pathetique. it's a very good one too. i recommend it.
but if the fifth symphony was played in the original movie, i dont know

Google "Tchaikovsky music used in movies" and you'll receive:
http://www.bohemianopera.com/tchaikovskymovies.htm
Scroll down by year to 1930 and it will list Tchaikovsky's two movements that were used in the original soundtrack. Amazon.com has excerpts of the songs - but I was not able to find the waltz I was looking for. Hope this helps. John
