waltz in the stepford wives frank oz
Hi,
I´m looking for the title of the Vienna Waltz that is performed in "The Stepford Wives" by Frank Oz with Nicole Kidman.
This special Waltz is performed in the scene, where Glenn Close is opening the ball with her husband shortly before Mathew Broderick is going to awake the machine-men .
In the endtitles on the DVD I couldn´t find any hint to this special track.
Any idea? Please let me know. Thank´s a lot.

It's by David Arnold who composed the film's soundtrack. I wrote to Mr. Arnold asking if there
will be a release of the recording and replied saying Paramount owns all the rights to it, I took
that as meaning we're not likely to get it any time soon. I miss the days when film
companies
would release the composers version of the soundtrack right away, nowadays if it doesn't
have
some disposable MTV pop tune attached to it they won't even bother.
Update: Well, I'm happy to say I finally found the promo of the soundtrack through a file
sharing service...three years after the film's release. Shame on Paramount for overlooking
this great soundtrack and not giving it an official release, especially when there's clearly a
demand for it. Luckily the files were of excellent quality so it's really their loss.

I spent some time looking for this piece, too. The only version of it I've found is more/less overture-ish. If you really like soundtrack music and have any kind (US, UK, French, German, Japanese) of Amazon account, go to amazon.co.uk, narrow your search to "Classical Music" and in the search box, put "classic fm movies" (without the quotes). Ignore the Hall of Fame entries. It's a three disc set for £12.99, about $25.00 + shipping (as of 8/6/06). Disk 1, track 13.
Another link for this set is found at: http://www.classicfm.com/index.cfm?nodeId=5569&sw=1024
