WHY IS THIS MUSIC SCORE UNAVAILABLE? HAS IT NOT BEEN RELEASED YET? IF NOT, WHY DO THEY DO THAT? BAD MOVIE, GOOD SCORING. ANY COMMENTS?...

it might be Trevor Rabin, but not sure.

Christopher Young was originally hired to score Exorcist : The Beginning but it's not his music you hear in the film because for some reason or another Rabin was later chosen to score it. And the score is unreleased because of some usual bureaucratic reason or perhaps because of lack of interest from any record label, or both.

Hm,

Since the whole movie was reshot from beginning to end with a new director - which basically means there are *two* different movies, I'm not surprised they changed composer as well. So I guess there's two unreleased scores there...

Any thoughts?

Well... quite interesting indeed! This triviality I did not know. Where did you get such a scoop. It makes it even more frustrating now since I would like to view the other directorial version of this movie as well as listen to Christopher Young's score. Of course viewing the other version would be impossible since it was not legally released and Young's score probably shares the same fate. Maybe it would have been a better movie. I doubt it though. I don't know if you agree, but personally I believe Rabin's score is exceptionally good in the released version... the only exceptional thing in addition to some special effects. Anyway... thanks for the input!

You're quite welcome!

I mainly got the info from Fangoria. It *seems* that there will be a DVD with the rejected version as well...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00074CC82/qid=1109433384/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-2149419-1451906?v=glance&s=dvd

Let's wait and see if that really will be the case. I'm quite sure the original version is available for download somewhere...

As for me, I have not yet watched any version of the movie - as I got a bit repelled by this whole production hell story. I guess I will watch it eventually...

Best,

That Amazon listing is a combo pack for the theatrically released Renny Harlin version of THE EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING and the previously released DVD of the revamped version of the original 1974 film, THE EXORCIST: THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN. No word yet on the Paul Shrader version coming to DVD or theaters.
