So who knows who fills in the gaps?

I'm wondering...varese aside, what labels reissue older/rare scores, and how do those scores get chosen? Are there any labels that listen directly to fans' requests? Seems like there are several scores out there going for outrageous prices and those of us who are meager wage earners who just happen to like the music to Krull, Clash of the Titans, Color Purple, etc, etc, have not a chance in hades to attain a copy.
Likewise, is there some kind of reverse pressure from collectors to keep certain items from being re-issued?
