Question

best cd of Tiomkin's ALAMO?

are the same music-only tracks from the shorter 43 min. version also music-only on the longer Legacy version, or does the Legacy use music+dialogue for those?

The Legacy CD's so-called "extra tracks" are all lifted off the final mixed soundtrack, complete with dialogue and intrusive sound effects so loud it drowns out the music. But the music only tracks that were on the original LP version are still music only. The reel to reel tape release of the Alamo had about 10 or 15 minutes of music not on any album including the Legacy and I had to use this to make up my own "Music only" Alamo CD-R which runs a little over an hour but at least is free of all the intrusions.

Thanks for your informed reply! So I won't be losing any music-only tracks by getting the Legacy.
Too bad your version isn't available. I wonder if Legacy or Varese would have been interested in your reel-to-reel tapes...
