Jaws: 30th Anniversary?
Does anyone know is Decca/Universal planning to put out any 30th Anniversary of "Jaws" soundtrack this summer? Giving the fact they're already announced all sorts of anniversary merchandise (from Xbox videogame to new special edition DVD) it for sure is possible.
For me Williams' Jaws score is definedly THE soundtrack I'd love have as surround-mixed SACD...

As much as I love "Jaws", which by the way is one of my favorite all time movies, I don't see having a third soundtrack for the same film. I have both the original "Jaws" soundtrack when it first came out, and then the Special Anniversary Collector's Edition with over 20 tracks. There is only so much music heard in the film, and the Collector's Edition soundtrack pretty much took care of that, so I don't see why they would release another cd just because it is the 30th Anniversary. Besides, when the 40th, 50th, etc. Anniversarys come in the future, are we going to ask for another soundtrack(s) as well? Just my opinion, but I definitely love the music from the film, but really don't see a need for another cd release.

What is puzzling about the reissued Jaws soundtrack--and I like the packaging and remastered sound naturally--is the shortened version of the Tourists On The Menu track. It's really a great piece by Williams and I do not know why they shortened it on the reissue. Certainly not for time constraints on the CD.
Anyone with a plausable explanation?

The TOURISTS track was probably shortened because a soundtrack album often has a longer cut of a music track than what is actually heard in the film itself.

The Decca-album is not a "re-issue". It contains the original film recordings. The old MCA-LP and -CD was a re-recording created especially for the album.
