It is a musical sound-scape for zombies.

Check out Day of the Dead soundtrack. Great music to eat people by. By far the best zombie soundtrack next to Goblins Dawn of the Dead.

We don't get the film over here in the UK for another 2 months, but I imported the score and..... it's okay.
I agree, it's a vast departure frm the previous scores, but with each listen, it grows on me.
I also think the CD could've benefited from some tighter editing, I wouldn't have any complaints from a 40-45 minute release.
But I guess with it being electronic and with no re-use fees and such, Varese thought it best to bung as much on the disc as possible.
And props to them for that, 'cos I'll probably enjoy it more when I can actually watch the Goddamn film in 2 months time.

Hm,
I should get the score within the very next days or so... quite mixed expectations. I watched the film last night and must say I was a bit disappointed. It might have been the shitty copy I have... so I'll give it a chance in the cinema, IF they show it here in Switzerland. Since that will at least be another 3 or 4 months from now, I decided to watch that really awful quality copy anyway...
From what I could tell, the score was mediocre at best. Both Dawn and Day were tremendous scores (the Goblin geek I am...), so why hire ex-Spliff and ex-The Other Ones? George must have loved "Run Lola Run"...
Ah well, I'll wait and hear what's coming to me. I better lower my expectations (which is never wrong anyway...).

So...
Got the score today. Oh boy, it is as I was afraid it would be going to be...
In fact, it is like the movie itself (very sadly) is... it lacks character and identity.
I don't like those soundtrack composer newcomers that go right up the "orchestral carnage" alley. Probably it is what the directors and/or the studio seems to want, but it is so uninteresting and inter-exchangable. Not a nice listen imho. As mentioned in posts above, don't even think of comparing it to the Dawn or Day scores. Another fine example that a smaller budget calls for creative solutions that are usually much more daring and hence add a lot of character to the film itself (let alone the pleasure of listening to the score on its own).
I much prefer the Tyler Bates score for the new "Dawn" - which has a similar approach - but has lots more identity and character than "Land".
I never thought I was gonna ever say this - but in my opinion both the music and the film itself have far less character than the "Dawn" remake has. It hurts me saying this - as I really grew up with GAR's movies, but it's the truth to me.
But who knows, maybe repeat viewings of the film and listenings of the score will smoothen this judgement :-)
Best,
Burnie
