Carrie
I own the inport lp soundtrack to Carrie from Australia and just got the Varese Sarabande cd release today. I'm a little bit at odd to wonder why Varese repeated the first track twice? Theme from Carrie is track 1 and track 13.
The two tracks are both the same and even the time frame is identical. I think this repeat of track 1 is not neccesary and wonder why it was done? There should only be 12 tracks like the lp not 13! Does Varese have some dumb dumbs working there?

Not a repeat, I think
I have the original United Artists relase, and if you look at the info for CARRIE here on this site:
http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=9268
Track 1 is the Main Titles, and Track 13 are the End Titles....both are listed as the "Theme from Carrie". Timings notwithstanding, I don't think Varese (I don't have that particular release, but this soundtrack is one of my all-time faves) is not a repeat at all. I'd suggest you go back and listen to it again. The two tracks HAVE to be different.
....and there SHOULD be 13 tracks, not 12.

Actually what the original CD re-release (on Rykodisc) did was repeat the end track as track 13 because it was played during the opening credits AND the closing credits in the film. The original United Artists release LP chose to eliminate repeating the track at the end. The result: 12 tracks on the LP/13 tracks on both CD reissues. By the way, both track 1 and 13 are identical--just as in the film.

"Just as in the film"?
Sorry, that's incorrect. Go back and watch the movie again, because the end credits (as well as the music) is very brief. The music only plays for about a minute in the actual movie's end credits, and is really only the first part of the "Theme from CARRIE". It doesn't even get to the body of the theme, which is that lovely flute music.
