Jerry Goldsmith, a year has passed
Maybe a strange and selfish thing to say, but I do miss mr. Goldsmith's contributions to the filmworld very much.
I miss his very distinctive own sound.
A new Jerry Goldsmith score was quite often more adventurous than the film for wich it was composed.
Strangely enough I find myself thinking very often what music he would have written for some movie I'm watching....
But to our luck, there are many recordings of his work around, so he himself and his work will not be forgotten.
Thank you mr. Goldsmith for all the beautiful music you gave to the world.

I've always prefered the earlier efforts of Mr. Goldsmith, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have also liked to see his new scores regularly appearing as they did back year(s) ago.
It's also good to mention that not much restored works were released in this last year - Alien Nation, Capricorn One ... possibly a connection there ?
Now I am going to play the score that (almost) started it all then, STUDS LONIGAN. In honor of the composer.

He was a true force in Film Music. Thankfully he has left us a fine body of work to enjoy over and over. There are still some omissions in his discography that deserve a release or a proper commercial recording. Perhaps these will now surface so that we can for a time at least enjoy some new Goldsmith Albums.

Yes, Mr. Goldsmith has made a significant contribution to film music. It is nice to see for example his Capricorn One soundtrack made available--it deserves a proper release.
He is very much with us I feel, as his legacy of music will be endure for the ages.

How many words we could write about this great Maestro!
Jerry's music introduced me in this beautiful world of film music! my first soundtrack i remember was RAMBO(First blood) on LP!!!
Since then i have never stopped collecting scores....
Every musician-collector and so on, today should listen to a jerry score !!!
i have just done it!

One of my favorite CDs to listen to is my POLTERGEIST soundtrack. That's one of the only movies where the music alone is enough to scare you, let alone the movie!

Let's not forget that within 6 short weeks the Film music world lost 2 other great composers Elmer Bernstein and David Raksin both of whom left a remarkable body of great work a lot of it still to be released.
(I know that Bernsteins' KINGS OF THE SUN has been recorded but does anyone out there know when it will be released?)
