Movie Boulevard

Hello,

Is the website Movie Boulevard a reputable site to order film scores from?

Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

Hi David,

I've purchased CDs, LPs, etc. from Movie Boulevard for more than 20 years (though they traded under a different name in those early days).

Strangely I have never bought from them via the internet - I always speak to Richard Jolley or Robert Wood by 'phone (basically so that we can have a chat!) before placing an order.

I see no reason why the web-site should fail - I'd be happy to use it if I didn't want the friendly and frank discussion first.

pricey however, a lot of bootlegs and cds for sale also, i ordered wot i thought was the comercial release of mars attack, yet they sent the red planet boot, and didnt tell me of course, charged 30 quid. just be a bit .................cautious.

Since I live in Leeds, I go in there all the time. Bought Jerry Goldsmith's Under Fire last week, and I've got a load of discs on order.

They get a lot of rarities, but as someone else said, they can be very pricey. But the guys know their movies, and their movie music, so you have to give them props.

Well, - I can see they have high prices. Among others - they have
CHAIRMAN for £15.99 + shipping. The same album has the price a little under £9.00 incl. shipping at SilvaScreen UK!

Totally reputable.A little expensive maybe but it depends what you are looking for.

Basically I'd say don't trust these guys with anything, especially your hard earned money. The are extremely expensive. will be chatty to customers on the phone and in the shop, and then slag them off the minute they walk out, and they sell second-hand CDs as brand new. As for the bootlegs, which is probably their main income when they have a special bootleg "sale", "buy two get one free", they are nearly all CDRs they knock up themselves with poor quality covers. If you have a boot for sale or exchange they'll say leave it with us while we check it, invariably they'll say they don't want it - because they've copied it to add to their catalogue. I know a dozen people who used to be regular customers and now do their soundtrack buying elsewhere. Trading Standards would think Xmas had come early to glance through their catalogue !

I finally got something from these people; I had ordered a soundtrack CD from the movie "Marked for Death", ordered Dec 16, 2007;received the DVD on Feb. 23, 2008; not what I ORDERED. I ordered the CD, not the movie,; very disapointed in them. Will NOT order from these people ever again,; very upset.

Hmm, I have just found this thread about Movie Boulevard and I wanted to chime in. I have known MB for over twenty years now, since my early days with Silva Screen. I have always found them to be on the ball with their subject matter, especially on the European film music scene. Their prices can be somewhat higher than other outlets, but still acceptable.
As for the bootlegs, no they don't make them. I know that for a fact. There are obviouly people here as well as other sites, such as FSM, who feel they have had a raw deal with MB. All I can say is I have nothing but good dealings with the lads there.

Deffo not a reputable shop! Don't be fooled by their chatty attitude that they are your friend, soon as a customer walks out of the shop or they hang up the phone the charm soon disappears. A dirty scruffy shop, prices totally out of touch with reality, and ran by two arrogant shop keepers who truly believe they are business gods and like to think they are somehow in touch with people in the movie industry. Soundtracks are invariably bootlegs - or even pirates - costing an insane amount for a CDR.

dragon1on1 and bunnyhopper are SCUM and don't know what they're talking about. And both psychic too - they know that they get slagged off when they leave the shop, even though they're not there to witness it. Talk about kick a great store when they're down. They never manufactured ANY bootlegs and bought all the ones that they stocked from other suppliers. In fact when I phoned to enquire they told me they were not genuine which I respect of them. I bought loads of stuff throughout the years at Movie Boulevard and although there were occasionally problems with items being out of stock - they had huge issues with theft at the store so I can't blame them for that at all. However, ignore the haters, they were a great store and will be missed.

Is Movie Boulevard still operating? Someone has just told me they've gone out of business.
