Howard Shore's King Kong score rejected?
http://www.moviewave.net/index.html
Is this some kind of joke?
Shore replaced by James Newton Howard?
Is there anybody out there who knows a bit more?

Peter Jackson's "pointless" KING KONG?
well, I think the post of this guy there is pointless. Then all KING KONG movies should be pointless.
Howard Shore is a great composer and I just can't believe Peter rejected him so easy. But since I searched the internet and found that this news must really be true and I'm just sad about this.
well, since I'm also a great JNH fan I just hope he will do his best to give the movie a great score.

Crying shame! So whose music do they use for the trailer? It seems to sound familiar, but I cant put my finger on it.

It seems to be true...
Another major rejected score to talk about.
The music in the trailer was from "Dethroned" - X-Ray Dog
& "Ultimatum" - Immediate Music,
both are frequently used in other trailers.

Definitely, a shock. It's unbelievable. I was caught completely by surprise, and I think other soundtrack score fans feel that way too.

I love Howard Shore's work and was as surprised as everybody that his score will not be used for King Kong. At the same time, Peter Jackson knows what he is doing and I am sure he had sound reasons for switching composers. When all is said and done, I am sure the final soundtrack will be great. And with Jackson at the helm of this monumental project, the movie will blow all of us away.
