Mutiny on the bounty

Hi
Saw this movie last night. I haven't seen it since i was a kid and now i'm older and appreciate music a little more thought the score was very good. It is by the famous vangelis but i can't seem to locate the soundtrack/score anywhere on the net to buy. I am talking about the film starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson. Can anyone help me out with this one.

Hi Roy,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Vangelis' score to "The Bounty" was never *officially* released.

'nuff said.

Best,

Although the score to the film was never released, there are two cues from the film available on the album entitled Vangelis:Themes, which if you are interested in, I can let you have.

It's actually not Vangelis best music (lots of 'tension' tracks) and I heard complaints about the
sound quality of the 'unofficial' 2CD release. I think however that the sound quality is rather
good and (unlike 1492) there are no sound effects or dialogue. Some source tracks are included
(sailor's songs, tahitian drums) but overall it's worth looking for (very hard to find though).
Success.

Thankyou for your quick responses.
I have managed to secure a copy of the CD "Themes" by vangelis.
I shall continue to try and find the unofficial mutiny soundtrack. Who knows one day i may get lucky. I fear a long and arduous search is ahead like so many scores and soundtracks these days.
Thanks Roy

Hm, I'm not too fond of the "complete score" either... The sound quality is *awful* IMHO and the music is not much better. The - by far - best two tracks are included in the "Themes" release, which I can heavily recommend. I was looking for the complete score for years as well, but only managed to be ripped off and getting a cheap CDR-copy of it. Ah well, what can you do.

Again, that is of course just my humble opinion.

Best regards and good luck,

Burnie
