DIE HARD ON FIRE BY ALIENS....
Having recently rewatched Die Hard for the umpteenth time, it got me thinking about the fact that in this film, the scores from "Man On Fire" by John Scott and "Aliens" by James Horner are used in the film (Right at the end) There is no acknowledgment in the end credits and I wondered if this is something the composers themselves allow or do they have a say in it? Would they get paid for its use?
I also saw Ridley Scott's "Kingdom Of Heaven" recently and right where Orlando makes his rousing speech a very familiar film score came in to back him up - it was none other than Jerry Goldsmith's "13th Warrior" score
Can directors just use other peoples scores for their films and do you people out there know of any other examples of films that feature score not composed by the official composer.
Thanking You In Advance.

I noticed the theme from 13th Warrior in Kingdom of Heaven as I did the Zulu chant from Zulu in Gladiator. Ridley does that doesn't he, it happened with Alien. I would imagine the studio owns the score and not the composer. Doug Fake ran a brief in his column on the Intrada website about this. He sees it as a compliment to the composers and I suppose you could understand his take on it, but the Zulu chant, give me a break! The ponytail issue of Die Hard actually has that Aliens cue on it when Powell shoots the terrorist in Die Hard. I also have the score to The Spiral Road by Goldsmith and boy does that sound a lot like Benny Herrmann or what.

Maybe it was a last minute addition to the movie and Kamen wasnt there... Boy, I could have lived without that "ultimate resurrection of the bad guy", really. What a final cheap trick for a masterpiece...

I agree and why didn't that terrorist guy just follow Bruces cut feet bloodtrail after they had shot all the glass out to get the exposives bag - Brucie was sitting on the sink picking glass out of his feet - easy pickings for the terrorist!
