UPDATE FROM VARESE SARABANDE !!
"If you and your network want to keep an eye on those sellers who seem to be the most blatant boot sellers, that would be great. This way we get rid of these people faster. Sure, they'll sign up again, but they'll have zero feedback and we can start all over again and bust them.

i think your missing the point here !! maybe you dont care that people get ripped off into buying bootleg material? but i for one do care, especially when it goes into silly money, im sure i aint the only one on here ??? we are not trying to be ebay polce, and we are not repoting this for any other reason than to stop the people being duped, and the more people we get on board the better it will become.

Stupidity :))) No one can ever force anyone else to buy anything he does want, right? I am a collector of OST for about 12 years now and bootlegs provide material that is not available. If I want it, I buy it, if I don't why I should get angry about that what somebody wants to buy?
As Preisner says there is only one kind of music for him - good music... it could be also said that there are two kinds of releases - good or bad. But usually the ones not commercially available provide much BETTER presentation of scores than the crapy and usually pretty short (I don't talk of the problem of so called "concert version" and non-film edits by which many of short scores are also influenced) commercial releases that are often spoiled by short amount of money available for their production.
I don't think that no one will ever force you to buy anything you did not want... then don't worry and let the bootlegs for people who want them. That someone is too stupid to recognize commercial release from bootleg, that is only his fault and his problem.

petrkocanda well said!... How would you feel though if you purchased on eBay at a hefty price (let us say USD$100 plus) not a 'bootleg' but an original & authentic, limited edition cd film soundtrack that has been out of print for some time now and only to find out once you received it that it is not an original & authentic, limited edition cd film soundtrack neither a 'bootleg' but a pirate copy, a clever counterfeit CD-R. Wouldn't that aggravate you a little? Would it not bother you no matter how much an expert of a film music collector you are to know that you were scammed in purchasing something quite pricy that is supposedly authentic and have it turn out to be some type of a home made CD-R?

i couldnt give a toss about people who trade in "official" bootlegs, all im bothered about as the last post mentioned are the people selling homemade garbage as authentic material, id be pissed off if i paid 100 dollars for something worthless!!
anthonynputson, January 6, 2006; 5:20 PM

Yes, I would care if I found out upon recival of a copy, that I wasted 100$. However, Im out hunting for just the music (and liner notes if possible) If I can get a copy of something thats been out of print on CD by any means possible, i will. I think it would be a good idea to suggest that sellers could just post they are selling just a copy - not the original. Granted, they wont get 100$, but at least if they sell 10 copies, for a blank CD they shell out 1$ for.. thats not bad
