***...BIDPAY OUT OF BUSINESS!...***

Effective December 31, 2005 BidPay discontinued its operations. They will no longer be offering payment services to the online auction industry and to the charlatan sellers abound! OUT OF BUSINESS... BABY!!

I resent the term 'CHARLATAN SELLERS ABOUND" I personally used & preffered Bid Pay as it enabled me to use the money & bank the funds as I wished to not pay PAY PAL over inflated exchange rates & then further bank charges to have an electronic transfer into my regular bank account.

Pay Pal is an ebay payment method, set up to enable ebay to make more & more money & is used mainly for such purchases. Their exchange rates are not the best or even favourable & on top of the sellers listing & final fees they then help themselves to more when you whish to transfer the funds to your personal bank account.

So while you may think that everyone who used or preffered Bid Pay were frauds there were many of us who were not & maybe you should be a little less scathing in your general terms!

I have to agree with Andrew on this. I do sincerely think that paypal is a bit extortionate and healthy competition I would welcome in any walks of life. But as I have experienced both myself and fellow soundtrackers there is an inordinate amount of phoneys (for want of a better word) who used alternate methods of payment to rip people off. So with this in mind I can fully understand serifiot's joy. You need only refer to those that were engaged in the The Omega Man affair, which dominated threads on this forum. What Bidpay failed to do, and as do ebay at present, is to address the issue of those that wish to exploit the honesty of genuine soundtrack buyers. Some of these guys have spent a considerable sum of money for something that is counterfeit. That should not be tolerated nor should it be accepted. We should applaud those that have spent considerable amounts of time to expose Microdick and the like. This is something that both ebay should address and those that accept payment. Those who suffer must have recourse.

For the time being I can only speak as a buyer (giving money) and not as a seller (receiving money). As a buyer, making payments through BidPay involves additional service fees on top of the final auctioned price and shipment & handling fees. As a buyer, making payments through PayPal does not involve any additional service fees. In addition, as a buyer before one submits their payment through PayPal one has a choice concerning the currency rate used. Making a payment through BidPay does not guarantee the buyer some type of protection in case of an unsuspected fraudulent and bogus transaction whereas PayPal does. By all means this does not entail that sellers who preferred BidPay payments were ALL charlatan sellers and does not exclude the fact that fraudulent activity will still occur when payments are made through PayPal either. Though now since BidPay who offered absolutely no protection to the buyer is out and gone it seems to me that a seller with fraudulent intentions who preferred BidPay over PayPal might have second thoughts on auctioning items on eBay. It just might simply prove a little bit harder for charlatan sellers to auction their items on eBay. Let us only hope this will be true and of value to the eBay community by acting as a deterrent to the outrageous outright theft of selling counterfeit items as authentic to unsuspected eBay buyers! ;- )

Personally also speaking as a buyer, so far Pay Pal has been professional and very good for me. Thanks to PayPal at least I have received refunds fot items that were either lost in the mail or probably never sent. Also sympathizing with serifiot for the microprovincia incident, if the transaction was done through PayPal things would have been less frustrating. If it's any consolation, shit happens to all!

Microprovincia did not accept PayPal. Yes indeed... it would have been less frustrating. Anyway, it was foolish of me to do business with this ass who in fact is still auctioning on eBay right now under his new ID 'gameisovernow1'!

Im glad to see that those jerks like re-animator will not be able to cheat more users.

I personally used bidpay several times to send payments, but I in the past there wasnt too much problems with users that dont sent the correct merchandise or sometimes nothing.

But right now, paypal is, out of the question, the best wat to prevent this problems.

Now its very common to see in ebay, temporally users, that publish some articles, cheat asome users, and before get a suspension from ebay, they terminate the subscription, and then with a new user name they start again.Thats why the only have about 60 feedbacks, and about 6 to 10 negatives one.
