Soundtrack For The Film "Starting Over" (1979)
Hello. Does anyone know if a soundtrack album was ever released for the 1979 Burt Reynolds film "Starting Over"? Some of you may remember that this is the film in which a tone-deaf Candice Bergen "sings" painful renditions of the songs 'Better Than Ever' and 'Starting Over'. Miss Bergen's "singing" aside, the Marvin Hamlisch/Carole Bayer Sager score is excellent, in that late 70's/early 80's, light pop/disco sort of way.
SoundtrackCollector's listing is THE ONLY evidence available online that would lead me to believe that a soundtrack may actually exist. Two different pressings are listed, 20th FOX Fox SS 2427 and 20th FOX SS 3265. I've searched for months on and offline and I haven't been able to find any information at all on those two pressings. The only items that I have found have been a few sheet music copies of the song 'Starting Over' and evidence of an obscure Stefanie Mills recording of 'Better Than Ever' that was released as a single on 20th Century Fox.
Does anyone have the actual soundtrack/soundtracks or have you seen them around? If so, where can I buy a copy? I'd also like for someone to explain the difference between the two pressings of the soundtrack that are listed here at SoundtrackCollector? Thanks in advance for any info that anyone may have.

It's funny how you think you are the only one on Earth looking for certain things, for years now I have casually searched for that soundtrack.....I have never ever seen a copy. I loved the Stephanie Mills version at the end of the movie while the credits rolled. That's what originally made me search for the LP Soundtrack. Then in 2006 they put the song TO MY SURPRISE on the Stephanie Mills Gold double CD disc. In the booklet it lists...."Better Than Ever - Stephanie Mills, April, 1979 - Also available on the 20th Centery Soundtrack, Starting Over." Only proof I have that it is SOMEWHERE out there........

I recently found Better Than Ever on Amazon.com as a download so if
you were never able to find it- Now you can- I can't tell you how long
