Les Diaboliques (1955)
Who wrote the film music to Henri-Georges Clouzot's 1955 classic ''Les Diaboliques'' and has it ever been released in any format?

The score is by Georges Van Parys. But I doubt that it has been released, it's not even listed in
his discography here on SC... strange lapse!

Thanks. No it is not listed which of course does not mean that it does not exist. Reason I asked is because the controversial thread to Mario Bava's Diabolik brought this title to mind which in turn made me think that I must had seen it in this record store not so long ago. I am not sure though that it was the actual music from the film. I have to go back and ask. I believe the cd cover was a black and white one with Simone Signoret and Les Diaboliques written on it. I have no idea what possessed me not to purchase it. Again, I am not sure.

Perhaps you just came across the soundtrack for the horrible remake with Isabelle Adjani?

To my knowledge there is an audio book of the novel on the market. Maybe you have seen this.
I don“t believe that the original tracks of Les Diaboliques have survived. Many French scores from the 50s are lost.

I'm thinking that perhaps it might have been some sort of film music compilation titled 'Les Diaboliques' focusing on the mystery/crime genre of French cinema or a film music compilation by composer Georges Van Parys... I honestly cannot remember. It is really a shame that some 50's French scores are lost. It was definetely not the remake version with Sharon Stone and Isabelle Adjani and surely no cd audio book either. I am well aware of this film music cd release since I have it in my collection. I'm almost positive that the front insert of this cd spotted in the soundtrack section was some B&W picture with Simon Signoret titled 'Les Diaboliques'...
