musical background
I suppose I'm just being nosy, but I've been curious for a while so I'll ask. How many of you out there have a musical background, or more specifically, how many are what one might call a "classically" trained composer or musician? Again, just curious really.
Personally, I have a Masters Degree in Composition and Theory from the University of Northern Colorado where I also had an opportunity to study film music as well. And I'm hoping within the next five or so years to continue my film studies at either UCLA or USC.

Hi. i am a freelance musician working in the videogame industry since 1994, working on many hit titles. All self taught, but have had invaluable help from my soundtrack collection. My orchestral demos are available to anyone interested.

Interesting email, with such a boom in video game music popularity, I'll bet you've been quite busy as of late.
More...Please!

hehe! well you can visit www.orchestralmedia.co.uk and hit the demo section, where a selection awaits. We are a two man band! I am one of course and the other is a guy called Allister Brimble. once you play or dload the demo`s the composers name will appear, so you know which one of us did what.

My musical background: i learned to play french horn at the age of 9. I played it for over 15 years. I have three younger sisters who began to play it after me and now they do it professionally in Orchestras in Germany. It´s the love for classical symphonic music and the passion for movies that brought me finally to film music.

I started on clarinet in grade school. I moved on to bassoon in juniour high and played bassoon and drums in high school and college. At Alma College's graduation in 1976 we kicked Elgar to the side and played Rosza marches instead...stuff from Quo Vadis and Ben Hur. Sadly, I no longer play. Maybe I'll buy a bassoon one day and take it up again.
