Bidder wars at ebay

Recently i am aware of some silly bidder wars at ebay e.g. there was an auction for Debney´s´White Fang 2`, without doubt a beautiful score but 56 Euros for a soundtrack that isn´t that rare seems to be a little bit insane. Another example: Old man and the sea by Broughton for about 76 Euros !. What are your experiences with similar auctions at ebay ?

Yes this ognikatze seller is a great example. However all (well, not all, but an absolute majority) of his CD's are still sealed rarities - was he keeping them in a cupboard for few years ? If so then soundtracks *are* an investment.

Especially the vinyl soundtracks are more collector's items than actual records, but I still think that $315 for an EP of "Fantômas se dechaîne" was a *bit* ridiculous. This price is from the last November.

I'd have to say that Broughton's OLD MAN AND THE SEA is rare and does rate a higher price. I say this from a collecting stand point. I tried to get OLD MAN for a long time. Trying to find one is pretty hard these days. I bid on one several years ago and I got it for $40.00 US.

I sold the Jaws 2 OST CD (Varese Sarabande) on eBay for $275.00 about 6 months ago. That was the most extreme case of a "bidding war" that I've ever seen, considering the fact that that CD usually sells for no more that $30-$40 on eBay.

To hammon: i just purchased ´Old man and the sea´from an australian seller for 42 $ and there were two bids (including mine) on it.
To coma: i normally bid in the last seconds of an auction to prevent the self-dynamics auctions can get. I have a certain prize in mind and i won´t get over this limit. Pseudo:petrans0

to 42 zaphod: maybe i am wrong, but the name of this seller and his location (Hamburg) remembers me to the former owner of tarantula-records. He had a lot of this italian and french stuff and naturally the japanese SLCS.

Though this doesn't even look serious due to the bidders' feedbacks.

I couldn't have said that better. I hope I'll understand one day why some folks like to bid and outbid each other within the first few days.
Also when you bid in the last seconds and you see your maximum wasn't enough, there is fortunately NO time to enter a higher maximum (which I always want to do at first, and later I'm glad I didn't).
My pseudo is vyvy42. But I'm sure I've never outbid any of you because I'm never willing to pay much on ebay.

The market is going to collapse... hillariously funny... I luv it! Perhaps we'll see some film music collectors jumping out from windows and others in food lines.

coma: I bought my sealed copy of this CD 2 years ago for 8 EUR. I think the bidders were probably not serious about this one... but even then it's a strange 'hobby' to fake auctions.
