Soundtracks you only keep for your EYES, not your ears
Hello,
I am curious to know if any others here have several soundtrack releases on CD you would part with in a second if only the music was the topic, but still keep because of fantastic artwork, a wonderfully crafted booklet or another feature of the outer presentation of the set.
Let me single out two releases that come to my mind immediately:
MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (FSM). The music has never captured me at all. However, the thick booklet with its breathtakingly detailed photos, extensive liner notes, additional picture material (not to forget the superior quality of the paper FSM prints their booklets on) as well as the nice picture discs....I could go on. I will never part with such a gorgeous soundtrack set unless I become homeless.
LE VAMPIRE DE DUSSELDORF (et. al. / Ecoutez le Cinema). The music just isn't my kind of music, in my ears it's uninspired and dull. However, all the releases in the ECOUTEZ LE CINEMA series just have an absolutely astonishing design, the booklets are works of art in themselves (layout, photos, interviews, notes). A few weeks ago I was close to putting the CD on Ebay, but stopped short of it because I just thought I could not give away such a perfect CD presentation. I also really adore the whole series' consistent design - a masterpiece of design.
So, you turn - which soundtrack CD releases are you keeping just for the artistic merits of the presentation of the set?
Very curious:
Urs
P.S.: And please, let me ask you to limit your selection to CDs, not vinyls. I think vinyls by nature look better - not a fair competition! ;-)

I would have to say "Poltergeist III" would be one.
Jan A. P. Kaczmarek's "Lost Souls" although I used to listen to it all the time.
That is all I can think of now. I usually listen to all my soundtracks...

BOLERO (1984) - Peter & Elmer Bernstein. Sensational Bo Derek cover. Pathetic soundtrack.

"And God Created Women", pathetic music and boring narration but cool pic of Bardot.
"Listomania" by Rick Wakeman (The original LP on CD not the Wakeman made disc). Music poor yet the cover is so cool.

Lord of war. Fantastic cover with head of Nick Cage composed of every kind of bullets.
