Darn..i forgot to mention Judge Dredd.

You mentioned The Punisher. You probably have the newer version, but the score to the Dolph Lundgren movie is also available now.

Also, Steel. I know, not the greatest movie, but it was a comic.

russell.reinbach: Does Road to Perdition count? It was a graphic novel. I know it was inspired by Lone Wolf & Cub, but as far as I know, they're not exactly the same story.

And "Dennis, The Menace" and "Fritz, The Cat" too.

You'll sure have a lot of research ahead if you want to collect all of these.. ;-)

Wow! Coma knows alot! ;)

j.w.schenk, March 21, 2006; 10:56 AM

Beetlejuice, as far as I know, does not belong on this list. The only BJ comics I'm aware of were based on the cartoon which was based on the movie.

As for Road To Perdition... comics, Japanese comics... potayto, potahto.

How about Tales From The Crypt? Not a movie, but an HBO series. There were, however, a couple "Creepshow" movies which are a transparent tribute to the original Tales From The Crypt comics and their ilk.

If you admit television productions, there was also The Flash, which was either made for TV or just failed by sheer suck to get itself into any theaters. A Flash theatrical movie may be just around the corner.

Rumors of a Ghos Rider movie have been in the ears for years, but it's allegedly PAST post-production; finished and sitting on a shelf somewhere, complete with music by Christopher Young.

Let's see here... there was the G.I. Joe theatrical movie, based on the Saturday morning cartoon based on the toy based on the comics... Or something like that, I think.

Hey, how about scores for movie based on toy lines and games?

And how about hoping that the scores for "Captain America" and "Silver Surfer" will finally see

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 12:47 AM

Not a comic.. (and not a rhyme either) :-(

coma, March 22, 2006; 12:59 AM

This is fun!... The Flash (Shirley Walker, Danny Elfman) Flash Gordon (Howard Blake, Queen) The Phantom (David Newman)...

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 1:09 AM

Very funny, but in fact Flash Gordon was created for Radio/TV... ;-)

coma, March 22, 2006; 1:12 AM

Hmm... Mask also known as Masque was a comic book character though.

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 1:15 AM

I know Le Masque. Do you think they are related?

:- )))))))))) LUUUV IT!!!

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 1:33 AM

...Back to serious thinking. I think I will start collecting American comics. I'm so wired! Anyway... Flash Gordon originated as a comic strip character. As far as Mask, if your not tired check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mask

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 1:43 AM

Crossed my mind... Wasn't sure until I read further into the wiki website I submitted... As to quote the other very interesting website you gave: ''It's an ongoing process and will never be finished, as there will always be new characters being created, old ones being unearthed, and further information on existing ones coming to light.'' Well... locojoe, all the luck!

serifiot, March 22, 2006; 2:17 AM

Howard the Duck (not sure if it's an official release).

I've also heard that there are promo CDs out there for Birds of Prey and Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero.

dstrohmeng, March 22, 2006; 4:25 AM

To clear up some incorrect answers. Flash Gordon was a comic strip created by Alex Raymond before it was either a radio show or movie serial. The Green Hornet was created for radio here in Detroit by the same people behind the Lone Ranger and Sgt. Preston of the Yukon. Did you know that Danny Thomas who hails from these parts did sound effects on WXYZ radio for those shows? The Shadow was a series of pulp fiction magazines moist written by Maxwell Grant. Same for Doc Savage, credited to Lester Robson. I'll have to review the rest of the thread now to make sure I didn't miss any.

To the best of my knowledge The Phantom soundtrack is OOP and my copy is not for sale.

ragar01, March 28, 2006; 3:38 AM

Just noticed Buck Rogers in the thread. Actually that was a pulp story before it became a comic strip and then later a movie serial with Buster Crabbe. Much later it was a tv series with Gil Gerard.

ragar01, March 28, 2006; 3:42 AM

Thanks. This is off topic, The Lone Ranger's nephew on that series is the ancestor of Britt Reid aka The Green Hornet.

back on topic, another comic derived character not on the list at the top of the thread....Prince Valiant, which has a great Franz Waxman score available on FSM. A couple of the cuts on the cd have issues due to the shape of the source material, but its not horrible and doesn't diminish the glory of that score.
