Question

48 hours and another 48 hours

Can't find these for sale anywhere on the net.
Have they been deleted or something??
Anyone got these soundtracks. I'm after the score really as opposed to the songs contained within the film like for example "the boys are back in town" etc etc because i can get these from anywhere easily.

I'm after the music like when the cop at the start of the first film shouts out "theres 2 of them jack!" on the stairway after he's been shot and then all hell breaks loose. Awesome.

Also i I'm after what i call the china town music and any filler music

Hi,

48 Hrs. has never been officially released. There is a soundtrack for "Another 48 Hrs." on Scotti Bros. with the songs of the movie and 4 tracks of James Horner's score.

There is also a compilation called "Commando: The James Horner Action Collection" on the (so-called) Heat Records label. This contains 5 tracks of "48 Hrs." (actually the same tracks as on the "Suites and Themes" bootleg - but renamed and greatly remastered). It also contains the 4 tracks of "Another 48 Hrs." (it says "alternate version" for most of the tracks, but I only found this to be true with one track).

This CD is often sold on eBay as "Promo" but is actually a bootleg. The aforementioned CDs are however the only way to get Horner's music for 48 Hrs.

Hope that helps,

Best regards,
Burnie

I have the legit UK release of ANOTHER 48 HOURS and the bootleg with five 48 HOURS tracks.

The A48H was also released in the USA but the UK one came out almost three months prior to the USA release. There are only five tracks for 48 HOURS. The A48H CD is both songs and score, but only contains four score tracks.

Way back, I was searching for the 48 Hrs. soundtrack, which was never released. Then I stumbled upon the score for Gorky Park and discovered that the action themes in it are very, VERY reminiscant of those from 48 Hrs.
Even back then, Horner was a lazy **** :)

I agree, Rinse_Dream

In fact, ALL of his action scores of the 80's are very much alike. 48 Hrs., Gorky Park, Commando, Red Heat, Another 40 Hrs. etc.

The thing only is that I - for whatever reason - LOVE these scores. They could be one giant expanded score for the same movie - but I love them. 48 Hrs. and Commando were my most ever sought after scores - I was waiting for Varése to release Commando for over a year (after reading about their plans in the sadly defunct "Soundtrack" magazine). Then I found those five tracks from 48 Hrs. and even noticed these to be the almost complete score (there are 4 further tracks in the movie - one laid back variation of the Main Title in two different lenghts - one "noise" track for the showdown and only one more "action drive" track).

Since there is no real hope to be had on a proper release of 48 Hrs., I am completely happy with this release.

Best,
Burnie

Bernie and all
Thanks i have managed to track the "commando james horner collection" down on ebay for £15 which i thought was a good price. Its an original too. I noticed that "commando " by Horner itself was also for sale at the same time by another seller if anyones interested.
Thanks again as always for taking the time to answer my queries they've made tracking things down alot easier than they otherwise would've been.
