Forum - Looking for a soundtrack

Question

Dead Calm? Wired For Sound.

Was there a soundtrack ever released for this film? Mostly looking for the choral/tribal pieces that are featured in the middle and end credits of the film. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I know the two pieces of music I am interested in however, they only seem available on vinyl. Looking for actual soundtrack.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Techrev,

The Dead Calm score was *unfortunately* never officially released. "Wired For Sound", as you may know, is by SPK, Graeme Revell's former "unit". This was released as the b-side of the "Breathless" 7" and 12" single, on both Nettwerk (Canadian issue) and Regular Records (Australian issue). Both are of course oop, but can be found easily on eBay for close to no cost at all.

There is a further track by SPK called "In Flagrante Delicto" (to be found on the "Zamia Lehmanni: Songs of Byzantine Flowers" album and CD, which *very closely* similar to the track towards the end of the film when Rae sails through the twilight to save John from the raft.

The tribal pieces you refer to (the dead bodies' discovery by John and the end titles) are only (not) to be found on the score.

There was a CDR-bootleg floating around for a while with the complete score (about 30 minutes in length), but the sound quality was quite bad (listenable, but definitely below official standard).

I would LOVE to see this score properly relased some day...

Hope that helps,

Burnie
