Question

Some people surely hate Hans Zimmer

Neither movie nor score is out yet, and the score already receives an 'exclusive' rating:

i have always loved Zimmer!
for me LAST SAMURAI is an excellent score, emotional and above all, perfect in the film......i appreciated also the score for Batman Begins!!I found it very experimental and interesting!!!
You love or hate, we are ok!..but in my opinion he created a musical language as P.Glass made in the end of '60.....
....and many people hate GLASS!!!!

Have never been too enthuthiastic about Hans Zimmer although what I have heard doesn't seen bad at all.

What comes to mind with me is his earlier work, such as the score from "Insignificence" with Stanley Myers.

The thing Turner Classic Movies play from time to time about the young composers contest or whatever the hell it is... Zimmer makes an appearance as if he's an expert voice on the subject. That I don't like at all!

While I don't hate him, I don't love him either.

I'm not particularly fond of any composer who has to constantly rely on synths. I much prefer to listen to real musical instruments. And if you're going to use synths, you can at least use them creatively rather than just replicating the sound of real instruments.

I thought "Hans Zimmer" was the "Alan Smithee" for scores... Is he REAL ? :)

Now we have a total of 4 ratings and *** / ***** in average, so I guess two hardcore HZ fans placed their 5-star ratings to add more stars, right ?

Thanks for all the opinions here by the way !

I thought his thin red line score was good. Not impressed that one of the main themes was missing from the soundtrack though.
