Financially speaking... I could'nt agree more! :- (

Let's see... um... does any one have a mere 20 grand to spare??? For starters that is.

Thanks!... You''ll be highly regarded!

... 10 grand?

serifiot, May 20, 2006; 1:46 AM

And they're gone now !

That was quick. 3000 edition within two months or such.

Nothing will save me now if they lose my parcel.

In case they do it is still being sold all over like Colosseum, Intrada, Footlight, Screen Archives... to name a few.

serifiot, May 24, 2006; 2:14 PM

Now gone at SAE, Intrada and Colosseum as well.

42zaphod, May 24, 2006; 3:42 PM

...and Footlight.

This is a conpiracy do drive soundtrack collectors mad!

(Shhhhhh!) at least one copy available at Ark...

serifiot, May 24, 2006; 5:14 PM

(As long as we're privately whispering) they also have less than 500 of Jerry's MAGIC left !

42zaphod, May 24, 2006; 6:58 PM

Between us... it's about time!
If u don't already have a copy, MAGIC is a good score and I personally recommend it.

I always wondered why some Varese Club titles sell out by the time one blinks and others (e.g. Goldsmith) just sit there.

There's some sort of devious conspiracy going on I tell you.... no other explanation (shhhhhh!... not a word!).

serifiot, May 24, 2006; 9:28 PM

Yes I also have MAGIC as this was a title I thought would sell out quickly.

It seems to me that they have to press either low number of copies (1000) or it has to be a very well known movie (Ghostbusters, Sand Pebbles...) to sell out in a lower time than few years. The price has not much to do with it as Marie Ward at $14.98 is still on the shelf.

Personally I don't understand why ANY of the 3000 folks who bought The Sand Pebbles didn't also purchase -for example- Justine. Are they satisfied with the Sand Pebbles well enough ?

42zaphod, May 24, 2006; 8:44 PM

I guess they must be satisfied... at least for the time being.

What about Studs Lonigan, The Ballad Of Cable Hogue, Alien Nation, and even Silvestri's Romancing The Stone? Even with FSM scores I sometimes wonder.

Hesitation though can be costly. Once a title is sold out, we all go crazy trying to find the score we wished we had purchased, usually at much higher prices.

Unfortunately collecting soundtracks and being devoted to film music is not a passion that comes with a cheap price tag.

So it comes down to choosing one or the other which can be very hard if not impossible!

P.S. Marie Ward by the way is a beautiful score!

serifiot, May 25, 2006; 12:03 PM

Yes we do wonder, but the borders are actually there - for example I haven't bought 'Alien Nation', and at least until it starts running low, I won't even try listening to the samples, because I'm not interested in sci-fi/synth/blahblah.

But it's true that the titles are often available for years, and just when they sell out, everyone suddenly remembers that he wanted to buy it. It's funny but that's how we are.

When we want to prevent this, we end with buying "Fantastic Voyage" prior to at least 80 more promising titles from the FSM catalogue, just because these are not running low (yet).

And yes, I have MARIE WARD on the way in the same parcel as GHOSTBUSTERS. Thanks for your words - I look forward to it.

And to get back to the Ghostbusters topic, they re-appeared at SAE limited one per customer and for $27.95. Profits profits...
