Upcoming Enzo Masetti release?
Hello,
I was wondering if any of my fellow film music collectors are familar with the music on the upcoming release of the two Hercules movies by Enzo Masetti? I usually like the music from this type of film genre and want to know if any one can give me a critique of this score.
Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

It has been so long since I last viewed these films on television, I don't remember the music at all. I only remember enjoying these type of movies as a youngster and definetely will purhase this 2 cd set nevertheless.
Perhaps someone with the VHS tapes or DVD's can be of some help to both of us concerning the music.
It is too early though to give a complete and fair review of these two new upcoming Digitmovies releases due on June 6th which add to a whopping 79 tracks and more than 2 hours of music solely based on previous releases and even on the movies themselves.
The closest you will come to a review is to visit the Digitmovies website.
There, they do provide some useful information and insight concerning these 2 upcoming releases.

I have the music on lp(also the films). If you usually like this type of music,as you say, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Imyself, can't wait especially as the discs have a lot of extra tracks.
The music, itself,is melodic, orchestral. There are a couple of soure songs sung on screen-not too bad.So I say look forward to them and start doing some push ups now.

One of the songs, sung by Sylvia Koscina´s character, is missing because of lost tapes.

For fans of the SWORD & SANDAL peplum films, the upcoming Enzo Masetti scores are a welcome addition to any soundtrack collection. The dual Steve Reeves vehicles, Hercules / Hercules Unchained, have an impressionistic yet lyrical and melodic texture. Masetti's operatic skills are very evident in his song for the Argonauts from Hercules. Enzo Masetti, the Miklos Rozsa of Italian film music, is in top form on these two movies.

I now have this outstanding CD. I am amazed that this composer's name has remained
unknown to me until now. As someone who collects the work of (for example) Steiner,
Herrmann. Tiomkin and Rozsa, I have no hesitation in saying this new CD deserves its
place in such a collection. I expected something more like the mediocre level of a
Nascimbene, and with poor sound. I was wrong. Masetti's scores are different class
altogether and the remastered sound is excellent. I am now hungry for more of this
composers work. I can't praise this CD highly enough.
