Wizard of Oz membran international release

Anybody know about this company and the quality of the release...I found a bunch of soundtrack releases at a bargain bin in a grocery store of all places and just wondering if anybody else has seen them....

Bootlegs, at least in most countrys.

These CDs are often straight rip-offs of CDs form SAE, FSM, even Tsunami and many others.

Membran releases are NOT bootlegs. They re-re(re-re-re-re-) release many old titles that officially are "public domain" recordings in Germany (after 50 years). They often remaster their re-releases, but I'm not sure about "Wizard of Oz"...

Membran from Germany (or Greece) are bootleggers. Compare the releases - and the covers - of a lot of FSM and SAE releases with the Membran releases.
And... just ask Lukas what he thinks about this..!

Not only they are cheap and filthy bootlegs, but above all else I would NEVER buy any Membran CD just because of the disgusting package. Absolutely unacceptable for me - especially when you compare it to the nice FSM / SAE / Rhino etc. packaging. Besides I want to financially support the devoted folks who invest time and money to release the lost treasures, not someone who just parasitizes on their effort with cheap re-releases.

If they are illegal, why doesn't Lukas Kendal press charges?

Because they have found a way to make them legal and nobody over here in Europe seems to care about it...

So... since they have found a way to make them legal, they are legal then and I'm assuming since nobody over here in Europe seems to care about it you prefer to have them be illegal? Correct?

O.K.

You can consider Membran releases bootlegs if you wish, but I know the company personally and they are HIGHLY professional and 100% legit in Europe. Yes, they are hunting "public domain" rights to re-release them, but they are NOT bootleggers. They are a HUGE company and have very sophisticated studios in their buildings. They have thousands of releases as well as re-releases in their catalog that encompass almost every musical style that comes to mind, including classical music, jazz, singer/songwriters, soundtracks, punk, heavy metal etc. etc. The soundtrack re-releases are not greatly packaged, agreed, but check the incredible bargain prices these are sold for. These are MADE to be be cheap re-releases affordable for everyone.

Just for information.

I was browsing at Membran score releases yesteday in this record store, no super market I assure you, not that I care.
If I'm not mistaken I think they released some new soundtrack scores from the Golden age in the same typical packaging. The titles escape my memory at the moment.
I kind of like the plastic box idea the cd case comes in... it looks uniquely cool.
