Morricone soundtracks: Storie Di Vita, Il Giorno, Gli Occhiali D'Oro

Hi, this is my first post here. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what Morricone's scores for Storie Di Vita, Il Giorno & Gli Occhiali D'Oro are like or how they stack up against his gizillion other scores?

Thanks

Dominic

Welcome!

Il Giorno Prima is somber but very good. Some powerful choral work stands out.

Gli Occhiali D'Oro is great. Very melodic. If you enjoy Cinema Paradiso, I'd wager you will enjoy this as well.

I would agree with Michael and add that Storie Di Vita is the weakest of the three you mention ... tuneful, melodic as (nearly) always but nothing - to date for me - that makes it stand out against many of his other scores.

I mention "to date" because I do find, especially with the Maestro's works, that repeated playings improve the listening experience. Gli Occhiali D'Oro is a prime example: originally "just one of the crowd" this is now a score that I really look forward to playing ... there is so much in it.

The choral work in Il Giorno Prima is brilliant.
