First promo CD soundtrack single?
I have what I believe to be the first promo CD soundtrack single ever issued in the U.S. The song is Twins by Philip Bailey & Little Richard, from the movie "Twins". It was issued in 1988 and has a manufacturers code number of DISP 000023 (the Record number is PSK 1357). Does anyone know of any earlier soundtrack singles than this one (U.S. issues only)? Conversely, can anyone confirm that this is in fact the first soundtrack single issued as such. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

Well David, now that you ask, it is sometimes hard to tell a real FYC from a fake one but usually it is rather easy. Some are, as you said, CDR's with photocopied inlays but most of them are a little better than that (and some are quite professionally done). I do have a couple I am not too sure of (at least until I see a few other copies of the same title) but the best way to tell if they are real or not (for the plainer CDR's with photocopied insert) is the source. I have acquired most of the FYC's in my collection from members of the Academy who received them straight from the studios that issued them. Of those few that are really crappy looking, most of them I have seen multiple copies of and they all look alike, so I am assuming that they are, in fact, just as the studio made them. The only one I have a question about is the disc from Chronicles of Narnia by Alanis Morissette (Wunderkind). It doesn't look like the normal high quality that Disney usually puts out, but then again, it was considered ineligible so I cannot figure out why it was even issued in the first place. The front insert looks professionally printed on card stock (there is no back insert) but the disc is a CDR with a simple white label over the CDR label (which can be seen underneath) and only the artist's name and the song title on it. I got it in a group of other FYC's, all of which I know to be genuine, so I do think it might be real, but I would like confirmation nontheless. If anyone else has a copy of the FYC disc for the song "Wunderkind", could they please send me a scan (or digital photo) of the insert and the disc? The effort would be most appreciated. Any other questions (or comments) anyone might have about FYC discs, please e-mail me. I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks.
