Cheers!...
Has any of you seen this movie or purchased the score?
Is "Superman Returns" worth the effort to the cinema, at least for the spectacular special effects (if any) & Ottman's music?
Any suggestions for a decent movie this summer with good scoring?

Yes, Serifiot, SUPERMAN RETURNS has spectacular special effects, a good score by John Ottman and a funny performance by Kevin Spacey. Apart from that, little more remains.
Anyway, the best thing from this movie is every time Mr. Ottman makes use of the classic tunes composed by John Williams: the "Superman theme", the "love theme" and the beautiful "home theme". Ottman's music is good, sometimes excellent, but it is rather insignificant when you compare it to the masterful score written by the great John Williams in 1978.

But should Ottoman's score be compared to JW's original? I think it would be much fairer to see it stand by itself.

I enjoyed the film and score alot.I also like the fact that the John Williams stuff wasn't used wall to wall.
