Question

Request concerning Die Hard soundtrack/John Scott

Cheers,
Maybe it is obvious for certains but at the very end of the first Die Hard movie, just
before the White Christmas song you can hear a beautiful theme ( not Kamen's ) that I
found to be the "Man on Fire" theme ( the one by John Scott ) .

Is it from a classical theme ? Or is it really a Scott use ?

And by the way if anybody could help me finding the "Man on Fire" soundtrack
I really would be interested !!

Thanks

Can't help you with the man On Fire John Scott cd, I understand that it has become a bit of a collectable these days. however it may appear on Mr Scotts own label or even a re-issue.

To your question, I worked on Die Hard & due to a sppeded up release schedual & the fact that Mr Kamen had been going pretty much 24/7, to get a score to the picture, just before final release and a locked down print, Fox added 2 cues from the temp track to the rough cut.

1 cue is The Man On Fire cue & the other is James Horner's Aliens.

These 2 cues in their complete form, appear on the Pony B*****G cd.

The Verese Sarabande club edition cd, now sold out, contains the Michael Kamen score only, but in a superb edition & although very exspensive now, well worth the hunt, if you don't already have it.

i hope this helps.

Are you refering to the Ponytail release Andrew?
Because that is the one I have and is indeed containing a John Scott and a James Horner track!
A real fine cd!

Does that mean the tracklisting for the bootleg on http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=30294 is wrong?

Yes, it's incorrect. I don't have the cd, so I can't help with the real titles.

Yes indeed the track listing (Pony Tail) is wrong.
1. Roy Rogers meets Beethoven´s Ninth - 1:30
2. The Terrorists - 4:00
3. "He won´t be joining us, forever!" - 1:44
4. Searching for John / Neck Snap - 2:09
5. Ho-Ho-Ho, one dead terrorist - 0:56
6. Rooftop /Elevator shaft /Air shaft /"Welcome to the party Pal!" -8:53
7. "Let´s kick some ass!"/S.W.A.T./"Send in the car!"/Big Boom - 7:19
8. Bathroom stories - 1:46
9. Beethoven´s Ninth /"Get in the van" -3:07
10. Hand to hand /Helicopters /Another big boom -6:44
11. "Honey,I´m home /The big fall -5:55
12. We´ve got each other -1:55 (John Scott)
13. Resolution -2:46 (James Horner)

Hope this helps

Glad to of helpped.

If you want a few other temp tracks in major movies, Ridley Scott is 1 of the best for that.

Alien has Frued

Legend has Psycho 2

kingdom of Heaven has 13th Warrior

It does seem to happen a lot & I often think, it's due to the speed a release has to get to the final market & composers just don't have the time to do the job. I also think in the era of 'needle drop' soundtracks to movies, a studio or producer gets so used to the temp track, thats whats left in the final print, no matter how good the orginal score is.

What ever you may be listening to, enjoy the music.

Andrew
