I bought True Confessions on Ebay from one of the many sellers because I'm a Georges Delerue fan. Initially, it went in my private collection as I did like it. However, I felt my private collection needed a bit of trimming so I decided to sell it.

I think at the time that True Confessions came out there was a lot of demand for anything by Delerue and a lot of traders purchased this CD with a view to making an immediate profit. I'm not sure the CD justifies the hype as its not the best I've heard by Georges Delerue. Although as usual if you liked the film then you'll want the soundtrack.

I think TRUE CONFESSIONS is absolutely marvelous and one of the best scores Delerue did in the USA. In fact, I think that AGNES OF GOD and TRUE CONFESSIONS rank among Delerue's finest American works. Andrew, are you sure you want to say goodbye to that CD?

Fortunately, although I had already got it on LP, I was lucky enough to get a CD copy from Varèse before it was sold out. Good luck in your business.

I tend to believe the fact that it sold out so quickly has a lot to do with the (usually) limited attention of American soundtrack fans for European-based composers (yes, I know Delerue lived in the USA a few years, but still), especially when the latter's works are mainly released by European manufacturers. In other words: I suspect many soundtrack fans in the USA never paid much attention to Delerue before Varèse made them to. To a lesser degree, the same explanation might apply to Morricone's THE ISLAND.

Thanks Angel.

I tend to have a bias towards romantic scores. So Crimes of the Heart (in favourite five of all soundtracks), Rich and Famous and A Little Romance get my vote for Delerue's best whereas there may be better scores in other genres.

I actually missed out on True Confessions through Varese, but was able to purchase one from another soundtrack store before having to resort to ebay. I am a huge Delerue fan and would agree that this is one of Delerue's better scores for an american film. I am very happy to have this CD as part of my collection and currently it is one CD I never plan to part with.

Yes, Andrew, CRIMES OF THE HEART is absolutely lovely, and RICH AND FAMOUS one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever listened to in any movie.

By the way, why on Earth nobody has ever released the complete score to RICH AND FAMOUS on CD? I know that Robert Townson is a big fan of Delerue. Perhaps he is planning to release it in the future... I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers,

Rich and Famous

I think the track of score on the Great Composers George Delerue 2 CD is considered to be the end of the matter. Having searched the video of the film for more music I suspect there isnt enough additional music to justify releasing a score CD. The main theme just repeats a lot.

To Andrew:

I watched the movie RICH AND FAMOUS many years ago. It's possible that the main theme repeats constantly, but I remember a haunting different theme related to the gigolo. I remember this theme was sad and beautiful and I loved it. I haven't seen the film again since the 80's, and my memories can be a little confused. Anyway, if you have the chance to see the film again, search for the gigolo scene and enjoy the music...
