Thanks for the complement!!! The funkiest tracks that I know of come from the "Goyoukiba" film series which starred Shintaro Katsu. These films are known in the states as "Hanzo the Razor." What little music that has been released from these films was on the rare King Records release "Goyoukiba/Kozure Ookami" CD. The title themes for two of both the first two films are very reminiscent of blaxploitation sounds that were being released at the same time in the states. And that makes perfect sense because if you've seen the Hanzo films you know he is the Japanese medieval equivillent of Shaft!!!

If you want something really funky check out the DJ Muro remix EP of some cuts from Hotwax label's "World of Sadao Nakajima" CD. Here DJ Muro took some already funky tracks from films "Jean's Blues" (starring Meiko Kaji), and PV film entitled just "Sukeban" and gives them new depth and power. You can still get the CD single, but the two original vinyl EPs that compose the CD single are sold out.

I was earlier gushing about the new Hotwax CD "Yasagure Amegatsute Sokatsu Rinchi" and this post gives me more room to rave on!!! Especially funky on that CD are cuts from films "Sex and Fury" and its loose sequal "Female Yakuza Tale". However, the CD contains a whole range of styles from funky to GS ("Garage Sounds").

thanks for the answer, Eric .

..... any other soundtrack in the vein of "sister street fighter" ?

(which -by the way- I did purchased thanks to the link you provide me on A.J. back then)

I mean "orchestral big band over funky rhythm" .?

Eric, does the Shogun Assassin-LP (from Baby Cart) feature the same music than the King
Record release?

2 CDs I've tried to post on this site contain groovy club tunes from several Japanese cult films like "Female Convict Scorpion", "Catastrophe: 1999" and "Black Tights Killers". They are titled: "Take A Walk On The Psychedelic Side" and "Screaming A-Go-Go", both on East-West Japan records. 3 other titles also exsist, but I haven't had any luck finding them. A track from Stefano Torrossi's "Feelings" titled "Fearing Much" was used in "Inframan" which is very funky! (Feelings is listed on this site, but incorrectly states that it is not film music, when in fact it is sound library music used for film, tv, and radio.)
