Study and find out for yourself. What are you trying to do cheat by asking others the answer?

no i cant find out, i wondered if anyone know's?
fast.runner.rob, September 28, 2006; 2:12 PM

It could be "Gone With The Wind" even though I'm not 100% sure.
wwk's is giving you good advise though Rob. Aren't you enjoying your class? Looking for answers to such questions in cyberspace is fun and easy and besides you will probably learn much more than you are asking for while doing it.

Poked around Yahoo for about three minutes and came across a reference to "Annabell's Butterfly Dance" (Thomas Edison/Hand painted/1894).

I don't know if it was the first one, but I remember that THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Rupert Julian in 1925, had a scene in color: the masked ball sequence, and it was processed by a very primitiveTechnicolor. It wasn't hand painted and it was a long feature film.

From site: http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/first33.html
"As early as 1902 short films were made and the frames hand tinted to create color.
Leon Forrest Douglass filmed 'Cupid Angling' in 'Naturalcolor', a process he invented.
'Cupid Angling' is considered to be the world's first full length color movie. "

Hand tinted... isn't that something! I can't imagine the laborious and painstaking work put into the whole process. These people truly loved what they did!!...
Even though it seems there were a few scattered films throughout and not only in the U.S. which were colored and hand tinted in the early 20th century I would set the mark on this fine line on the wonderful classic films "The Wizard Of Oz'' and with "Gone With The Wind'' as the very close runner-up to be the first major film productions to have been released in true vivid color.
Rob let us know of your instructor's comments...
I'm curious to know!

Yeah hi! I just noticed your post David.
Quite interesting!... Even though I don't think I have heard of this 1922 film ''The Toll Of The Sea'', I would love to view it nevertheless.
P.S. To complicate things even further... sorry Rob.

So much for little lost Dorothy & self centered Scarlett.

The first full length feature film in three-strip Technicolor (the forerunner of all modern color systems) was BECKY SHARP, released in 1935. But Walt Disney had made his short cartoon THE THREE LITTLE PIGS in three-strip Technicolor two years earlier in 1933.
David in England.
