***CASINO ROYALE*** SOUNDTRACK SAMPLE TRACKS

Here's a link to 25 music teasers from what seems to be all the soon to be released ''Casino Royale'' film score by David Arnold.

My lips are sealed. I honestly don't know what to say of this subdued film music.

I understand that sample tracks can be somewhat incomplete and deceiving but how deceiving can these be?

Am I listening to a James Bond score?

I hope the movie is more... should I say inspiring?

Go to this link and just type in Casino Royale.

What do you guys think of the music?

In all frankness folks, nothing like a classic John Barry slick action Bond score!

This score seems to belong - excluding the last track - in another movie, perhaps a current horror film... enough said.

Let me put it like this: From the short samples, it does not sound bad yet. It still leaves the possibility that Arnold could improve over his previous Bond works.

Compared to his other three Bond scores, I actually find a subdued approach a relief. And in that respect, I find what I hear more reminiscent of the later Barry than Arnold's work so far. But then again I do not like the music of the later Barry.

John Barry's Bond scores from the 1960s and 1970s and THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS is what pulled me into film music and I still adore them today. But judging from Barry's 1990s works I would no longer want him to score another Bond.

Maybe it will surprise you, but this is not a Barry-kind of a Bond film!! So....

On a different note, I think the absence of the main title song "You Know My Name" from the tracklist could hint at a "Music from and inspired by CASINO ROYALE" CD which would be a first for Bond movie music releases. Typically such a CD would contain the main title song and PERHAPS one other song used in the movie plus 10-11 songs with no real relation to the movie at all.

We have seen this with other movies (mainly the Mission: Impossible movies) and although I don't like the main title song being withheld from the actual score album, this at least ensures a generous genuine score album being available at all. Just imagine they had done this with DIE ANOTHER DAY! :-D

But again, this is just my speculation.

:-)))) Die Another Day would be perfect for deleting the title "song" altough I hesitate to call this crap a song...

Well, i hope there will be a title song single with some other remixes of the song or with its instrumental version... there is a single for TWINE and hope there will be one for CR as well :)
