MAX Entertainment Inc. CDs: Japan or Hong Kong?

In the database, there are several CDs on the MAX Entertainment Inc. label mentioned as issued in Japan. One of those is Bruce Lee's Game Of Death by John Barry (BLXL-1006).

However, the cover and inlay of the one in my collection are clearly not Japanese but Chinese. There are no Japanese characters anywhere. It is clearly meant for the Chinese market; the "Game of Death" track is included in Cantonese and Mandarin.

The other titles are from Bruce Lee movies too. I think all these CDs on the MAX Entertainment Inc. label were issued in Hong Kong, so the database should be updated.

Does anyone agree? Or can anyone prove there really are Japanese editions on this label - in which case my Hong Kong copy should be added to the database? Thanks in advance.

I totally agree with you. They are NOT Japanese editions. I heard that they were imported from Hong Kong. And I think that they are bootleg or something.

(revised)

This ought to make things more confusing:

I purchased each of the "BLXL" CDs (except for Game of Death because I already own the Silva Screen release) individually from Ark Square, and each one comes with an obi, a registration card, and an insert with liner notes and track listing, and each of these is printed almost entirely in Japanese, not Chinese, and even the price on the obi is given in yen (2310 yen for each individual CD, although I don't remember paying that much for them).

I suppose that ones that I purchased are the same as the ones that ga.speelman purchased (that were made for the Chinese market) except that the ones I bought were augmented with additional inserts and meant specifically to be sold in Japan. That would still make them of Hong Kong or Chinese origin, probably, even though the supplemental inserts are printed in Japanese, and especially since they don't say "Japan" or "Printed in Japan" or anything about Japan (or Hong Kong either, for that matter) anywhere on the packaging.

Also, the size of the cardboard mini-lp sleeves is quite a bit smaller than the standard Japanese mini-lp sleeve, and the obis are even smaller still (the cardboard sleeve is only 12 cm high and the obi is a mere 11 cm), which is another indicator that these CDs were not manufactured in Japan.

Thanks for your responses, guys.
Upon closer inspection, the insert with liner notes seems to have Japanese text on one side, but the track titles in Chinese and English on the other side.
Japanese labels always state "printed in Japan" etcetera in English, so that's one more indication that these CDs were not issued in Japan. The CD and sleeve are far better than bootlegs generally do, so I think the label is/was genuine.
A Japanese obi (which I don't have) is cool, though. Apparantly these CDs were imported in Japan from Hong Kong.

I will suggest that the database be updated, then.
