Japanese releases... please help!

Hi,

Being a novice, what is so attractive about Italian and Japanese releases among collectors and where does one find these 'gems'?

Any list of unheard of exclusive internet retailers (in English) where they specialize in Japanese soundtracks and where one can find an abundance of old and current Japanese soundtracks besides the few and scattered ones which on occassion can be spotted on eBay, Amazon, HMV Japan, Tower Records Japan, Ark Square, & Footlight to name a few that I came across? Thank you.

The sound quality advantages probably only apply to CDs that had to use vinyl sources or old master tapes. When it comes to soundtracks from the digital age, it's probably just about a collector mania. Very seldom a Japanese edition would come with an additional track, so then there is a real advantage over the more widely available US or European release. I hardly ever saw/heard advantages in Japanese editions that would justify paying 10-20 dollars more.

Urs

Off the top of my head, I have in my vast collection Die Hard 2 - Die Harder (love that tag!), Terminator 2, Little Buddha and A View To A Kill. The two sequels have proper colour booklets and extra stills within and different artwork on the actual CD. Little Buddha has one extra track which, if my info is correct, is not on any European release (I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong).

A couple other places to order Japanese issues:

http://www.jpophelp.com/ (type "soundtrack" in the search box to get a complete listing here, but prices aren't cheap - you are better off buying direct from Japan)

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/movie/soundtrack/index.html (this lists new and upcoming soundtrack releases, but you can also search for older titles or label numbers)
