CABIN FEVER---DAVID HESS "Road Leads To Nowhere"???

Ok, did anyone else like the track played in "Cabin Fever" that contained the words, "And the road leads to nowhere". The song is only played briefly for a few seconds as the main characters hop out of their truck the first time at the gas station. I have found out that David Hess is the man singing the song, but can't find it anywhere. I was told that if I bought a copy of an album released by his two sons, that that's where the song was. Well, it wasn't. His kids did a remake on it, but it wasn't as good as his version. After calling the record label, they told me that the original by David Hess was on the "Last House on the Left" soundtrack, and it's title is "Wait for the rain". But that wasn't it either. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this song? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

The last line of the song "Wait for the rain" from the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT soundtrack is precisely "...and the road leads to nowhere." Also, I remember reading that the director of CABIN FEVER had to ask permission from David Hess to use some of his music from LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT in the CABIN FEVER film. You can listen to samples from the album here:

OK, here's the scoop from the horse's mouth:

"When I first spoke to David Hess, I was terrified. My only perception of him was what I had seen in "Last House": a brutal rapist/serial killer who had escaped from prison. It turns out he was only acting in that film, and he's actually a very sweet guy. David loved the idea of using his "Last House" songs in the film, and then informed me that his kids, who are in their early 20's, played a kick-ass, modern version of the "Last House" theme, "Wait for the Rain." We discussed the idea of using his kids' updated version for the end credits, and Bo and Jesse Hess (who call themselves Noah's Rock Stars) recorded "Wait for the Rain 2002" at the studio of Greg Hilfman in Topanga Canyon, in two days. When I heard them first perform the song, I was stunned. I loved their music so much that I used their original song "Volatile Velvet" for the driving montage up to the cabin."

I wonder if I got a different copy of the song then. The melody of the one used in "Cabin Fever" is nothing like the "Wait for the Rain" track that I have. Just a completly different sound. I'll check the link though.

Looks like the updated remake of the song is included with the German CD release of the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT soundtrack, available here: http://www.lovepotionperfume.com/store/David_Hess.html

If you buy the Ltd Ed German soundtrack version of "Last House", you'll get all the original tracks plus get the remake done by David and his sons for "Cabin Fever".

Go HERE: http://rocketcityrecords.com/shoppingdirectory.html
and click on David's name.

The thing that most people don't get is that "The Road Leads to Nowhere" and "Wait for the Rain" were actually 2 parts of the same song that were used in different bits in the film "Last House on the Left". That's why the names are often interchanged...they're the SAME SONG.

The Hess Brothers, along with their father David, released the very first intact whole song version for the end credits of Cabin Fever.

Previously the song was only available as a CD single from the Hess Bros with the Cabin Fever artwork on the cover. But now it has been included on the newest release of the LHOTL soundtrack.

The original Hess soundtrack version, in pieces, was what you heard early in the film in Cabin Fever. The instrumental intro to those words was also a part of that section, tho you maybe didn't realize it in that context.

The Ltd Ed German version available on David Hess's website right now is the best version ever offered to date. You get everything all in one place.

There are 6 songs from David and Sons in the film, two from his sons Jesse and Bo, the Hess
Brothers and four from David and the original "Last House" soundtrack.

Dear Drakemarone

i have the same problem, the version played when the guys hop out the car into the shop is the best one, the problem is the ST of LHOTL seems to be diffrent, however all the sites play the only first two minutes of it, where the part we love that says "and thee road leads to nowhere, and the castle...." is played instrumental only, maybe the rest of teh songs he sings the words. so u cant be sure if that was the version played during the scene or not, if not that means that there r 3 versions of that song, one that is played at the CF credits which is soooo pooor compared to the second one played in the scene, and thee third one is of the LHOTL ST where it seems that it only play the parts of the "roads leads to knoww where instrumental" i will keep looking, but plz, drop a line if u find it first.

and to make it clear to evrybody, we r seeking the version played in the scene
