Funky Japanese soundtracks?
Hi!
Somebody on this forum asked me about Japanese "funky" soundtracks on a post a few weeks back. In the same post, I was trying to tell folks about the awesome new Japanese Hotwax releases, and as usual I was attacked by another forum member for being an "adverstising executive" or some other such nonsense. Another member assumed that these Hotwax releases are mostly songs (because in my descriptions I always mention the songs--as I collect old J-pop also, I get excited about those...) and asked me about "funky" Japanese soundtracks. Well, I thought I would post some links for these CD's on the US website "Dusty Groove" in Chicago, and you can read their descriptions. I think their description for the "Sukeban Guerilla" CD sums it up: "Insane funky tracks from Japanese films of the early 70s -- a mindblowing collection that should do for Japanese soundtracks what Vampyros Lesbos did for European ones!"
Here are the links:

Also, for people that are fans of these Hotwax CD's already here is a link on Amazon Japan for their newest release (street date 11/18) called "Miki Sugimoto vs Reiko Ike: Onna Bancho Nagaremono vs Futengurashi" I'm excited about this one because it will have the theme song from the Miki Sugimoto insane police flick "Zero Woman" as well as many BGM cuts from the film. Here is the link to pre-order page on Amazon Japan:

Here is link to the website for actor/composer/rock muscian Ichiro Araki who composed some music for films such as "Sex and Fury" there are some images and tracklists of these new Hotwax CD's (including the new one whose amazon link I posted above)

One last heads up which isn't about a soundtrack: In December there is going to be the release of a Japanese "Stray Cat Rock" DVD box set, so all you Meiko Kaji fans take note!!!!

Hi Eric, just wanted to tell you that I hardly come to check the forums anymore nowadays because as of lately people like the one that's been attacking you are spreading like mushrooms. Greedy people and guys that just want to look smart mocking others are everywhere, and Soundtrack Collector is not an exception, unfortunately. Just keep on with the good and serious comments and forget the others. Be sure that your contributions will be appreciated by some.
