Question

That's why i hate bidding on Ebay!

Of course,
The last few seconds someone outbidded me with a few bucks more. How is that possible?i was refreshing my page every second for the last few minutes.and all of a sudden...boom!! 2 seconds left,i was a goner!! Is ther a special technique how they can do this? What i did notice was every other item he won in the past worked the same way,him/her being the last one to bid.
The cd i was bidding on was Runaway by Jerry Goldsmith..it ended with a price from 75 buckeroos. this day sucked!

Another fun one is when you see a bid for an item way up crazy high and then see the same
item at a lower BUY NOW price in a different auction. I always feel better about my own bidding
when I see people being dumb. It's the little things in life.

Don't think you're the only one this has ever happened to. There are always some sneaky people who will wait until the last 15 seconds of an auction to bid, just so nobody has time to bid higher. If it's something you really want, put in a bid at the highest amount you are willing to pay, go to bed, and hope nobody outbids you.

A friend told me there is a program you can obtain that controls the bidding for you, so it's being
done, in those last minutes, faster than you can refresh your page manually.

I've never tried to check it out so I don't know if its true, reliable, apocryphal or what...but it's
possibly more comforting to think we're being being beaten by a computer than just someone
faster than you. Or maybe it's more disturbing...

lol
I always do wait till the last 20 or 15 seconds and THEN I bid the hell out of it. I bid lot of money but only if I really want this item so here we are.
when I know the item is pretty damn hard to find so just hope only a few people know that. :) it worked many times for me on many rare titles especially for "Musa" which is damn rare nowadays, I guess I had lot of luck.

These people are using sniper tools. Check out the thread on this topic I posted sometime ago.

Anytime I bid on e-bay I put in the highest I'll go and that's it. If someone bids more in last 2 seconds I dont care, because I went my limit in the first place. I saw the other day, a bidder was trying to take one of my bids in the last 30 seconds. He must have bid 6 times in small increments. Now isn't that riduculous.

If i had won this auction i would have been so happy,I have been loooking for this cd for years,Link included. But i guess who isn't?

The sniping software is only as good as the size of the highest bid. I've had a number of turkeys do the LAST SECOND SNIPE because I know by the silence on the bids up to that point that someone is just WAITING IN THE WINGS to ZAP me at the last second.
THESE DODOS USUALLY LOSE, because I bid, say, $75 max on an item that's currently at $16.75. I KNOW the sniper is not thinking it will go that high, so they bid a smaller amt. never guessing that I have trumped them on my max. bid.
Maybe I end up paying $23, but at least I got what I wanted. You get a feel after awhile for the sniper's range and can almost always defeat them.....BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!

...but you have to consider the fact that you could have also ended up paying USD$75.00 plus! for something you were not willing to pay that much to begin with!

serifiot, November 3, 2006; 10:42 AM

I guess i am not good at bidding then, because i was being ignorant enough on thinking that it was awfully quiet around that time,so no one could overbid me the last few minutes. If i had known of course i would have bidded more then 75 usd.My limit would have been 150 tops, just like you guys said, bid the max and sleep on it and see the next day if you won or not, then i would have called it quits. ..better luck next time indeed.

P.S. The person who won the auction is probually reading this thread and laughing their ass off with the comment "in your face!"

j.w.schenk, November 3, 2006; 11:05 AM

If you'll wait, Runaway was being sold not too long ago on eBay as a bootleg accompanied with The Burbs, lol. Guy was selling like 4 or 5 of em. The seller is from Germany.

Ebay can drive some people completely insane. Like the slot machine in the old episode of "Twilight Zone". I put a max price on something and leave it at that. Top dollar I'm willing to pay for a recording is top dollar. If a couple of schmo's want to kill each other over something and pay more than it's actual worth so be it.

At least I'm not up to my nose in credid card debt.

Personally I prefer the days when a person could walk into a music shop (after smoking a j-bird) and take your time and go through the bins of recordings and pick and choose what you would like.

Screw all the cut throat trying to beat each other out of something nonsense. I don't like it.

There was a time when people were not so up each others ass as they are now.

I suppose George "peanut butter head" Bush can take a percentage of the blame.

victoravalentine, November 3, 2006; 5:29 PM

...speak your mind out and VOTE! Wasn't Jimmy the peanut man?

serifiot, November 3, 2006; 6:18 PM

Thats right! Jimmy Carter was the peanut man. George Bush is peanut butter head
