david arnold kicks ass with this one, I can tell you that. by far the best bond score he composed by now.
after stargate, independence day and godzilla david arnold strikes again!!!
david hits the jackpot, I hope the film is as excellent as the score.

I'll be sure to give it a listen.
Nicholas Dodd composed for a movie earlier this year, and has already scored one coming next year. I'm more curious about those.

As far as Bond scores go. The original is the best. John Barry created music for those films without equal!
Aside from Barrys music I would list "Live And Let Die" (George Martin) as being time worthy.
The original "Casino Royale" (Bacharach) recording has always been a prized item amongst some. It never appealed to me.
As for the recent Bond scores. I suppose I would give them a chance yet have this feeling in my gut that they would leave a lot desired.

The name John Barry is synonymous with Bond scores. The original is always best with rare exception.
I'd be interested in hearing just a bit of the recent scores simply for the sake of analyzing the possible emulation of roads already paved.
Too mainstream for me.

the same with John Williams and Star Wars or Indiana Jones, the same with Christopher Franke and Babylon 5, the same with etc.
"original is always best" - it's relative, depends on the opinions and taste of individuals.
what's the best for some, isn't for others.

I've never cared for the Star Wars films or scores for that matter. John Williams did his best work before he became a household name. As for Babylon 5 and Franke. Personally I'd take a pass on that as well.
Christopher Franke started with Tangerine Dream and worked on the "Sorcerer" score. When he began working on American television junk the quality decreased as so often is the case.
Once again, too mainstream for me.

and again, what's great for some, isn't for others.
Babylon 5 is excellent music, the best I have ever listened to. beautiful melodies, great action sequences, awesome main title themes, great CD cover art, especially the episodic CDs. what do you want more?
Those who have not yet listened to the music of B5 have missed a lot (or maybe not).
Babylon 5 is a fine example of modern sci-fi music for a TV serial.
Chris Franke is by the way a cool guy, had a chance to exchange several emails with him, in german of course, because he is german. this doesn't mean that he cannot speak english ;-).

As far as I'm concerned, Ive never heard anything better by Arnold than - Last of the Dogmen. I think everbody forgets about that one.

I have a copy of "Last Of The Dogmen". Although I haven't listened to yet it looks like a nicely produced recording. One of these days I'll give it a spin. Hopefully it will be one of those rare experiences.
As for Babylon 5 as mentioned in the above posts. I wouldn't have it around. I don't care for the television work of Franke.
