Electric Soundtracks

Hi,
I'm new to soundtrack collecting and wondered if any one had any electric soundtrack recommendations. I already own The Terminator/T2, Blade Runner and Assault on Precint 13 soundtracks and would like to expand my collection.

Thanks,

I think you mean electronic. Any genre preference? Do you like horror? Anyway, offhand I can recommend music by Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, John Carpenter, Goblin, Harry Manfredini, Giorgio Moroder, Jack Nitzsche, Wendy Carlos and so many others which I'm sure other fellow SC members can fill you in with even more composers and perspective precise titles.

any of the Matrix soundtracks
anything by John Carpenter

I wouldn't agree with The Matrix Trilogy as being exclusively electronic. It is a fantastic blend of orchestral music fused with electronics - see the films first. There are a few electronic scores by the most popular composers also to include Barry and Goldsmith. But the one that stands out the most are Hans Zimmer, Trevor Rabin and Klaus Badelt.

Maybe you could try :

- Escape from New York (Carpenter)
- Le Monde Electronique de François de Roubaix (vol I) and (vol II)
- Runaway (Goldsmith)
- Dreamscape (Jarre)
- A Nightmare on Elm Street (C. Bernstein)
- The Thing (Morricone)

Some are not so easy to find.

Good Luck !

Yes Goblin, Tangerine Dream, but the most famous would be Forbidden Planet by the Barron's. Also, several Morricone soundtracks have electronic pieces(very freaky use of) throughout. Stelvio Cipriani has quite a lot of Electonic content in his own right. Jerry Goldsmith uses many electronic effects within his science fiction and horror scores as well. If I think of any more particulars I will write back.
