I met Lalo Schifrin at the Adelaide Film Festival in Adelaide, South Australia in 2005. He was doing an hour long talk to fans, with trumpeter James Morrison (I think). I arrived at the question/interview place about 20 minutes into it, it was so interesting hearing all this inside information from the composer himself.
I had my hand up for most of the time, as recently before the event, George Lucas released the DVD of THX 1138 in Australia, and I didn't have the soundtrack at that point, but I had the DVD, and I really enjoyed the film, the commentaries, and the score, although I never got picked to ask a question.
So it came to the end of the presentation, and Lalo had to fly off out of Adelaide straight from the Cinema where the conversation was held.
Some people were so stunned from Lalo's talk that they were happy enough to stay in their seats, and heaps of other people were getting their LPs such as Dirty Harry and Enter The Dragon signed, and I thought in advance that I would stay closest end to the exit door where he was headed, and so, as he was signing other peoples items he was called upon to leave, and this is where I come in.
I asked him, while he was signing other items from different people, about THX 1138 and his involvement, and he said that that film changed almost everything in cinema, and from hear on, walking out the cinema, I had this in depth conversation about THX, and he disregarded signing the other items, as nobody during the entire hour had asked a single question about THX, and independent like minds connected, being his and mine, and while the organiser of the festival was urging Lalo to leave, Lalo stopped her in her shoes, and walked slowly out the cinema, in a head to head conversation, as if his flight wasn't that important.

I got his signature on the DVD cover, and at that I don't mind, as he also created a piece of that film!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the soundtrack imported from America the following week!

Some of you guys have interesting signed cd soundtracks I wish I had as well... like Jerry Goldsmith!

Anyway, from what I remember the most recent ones I acquired are ''The Black Dahlia'' by Mark Isham of course and ''The Wicker Man'' by Angelo Badalamenti.
