Any Guesses on Buysoundtrax New Releases???
Anyone have a guess as to the two releases that Buysoundtrax is talking about announcing later on today?
FROM BUYSOUNDTRAX SITE:
We have a number of limited edition titles in the pipeline..
Next month we'll be releasing a CD with three action-packed scores from a single composer who began his career At Roger Corman's company in the 1980's.
None of the scores featured are from a Roger Corman Film.
We will announce this title on Thursday, November 30 ,2006 at 5:00pm (Pacific Time)
After that we'll be putting out an unreleased score by a long-time Hollywood veteran film composer from a early 80's SCI-FI Epic starring one of the Genre's best known actors.....

Hm...
My (unrealistic) hope is:
James Horner: "48 Hrs." / "Wolfen" / "The Hand"
Possibly instead of any of the above: "Uncommon Valor" / "Something Wicked This Way Comes" / "Up From The Depths".
Hahaaaaa, keep on dreaming. "48 Hrs." is owned by Paramount, so no chance on that one. Except maybe Mr. FAT involves Mafia tactics :-)))

Horner scores would be great! But I'd prefer The Hand, Wolfen / Deadly Blessing altough I don't think these three can fit on a single CD.
Another guess might be Christopher Young - he also started in the 80's - Horner began in New World Pictures in the very late 70's so I think this excludes him off the list of possibilities, altough I would definitelly welcome a release of some of his first unreleased scores (which there is still so many!)
Considering Chris Young - I don't have an idea of any scores that might be included and fit on a single CD :(

Well... only a few hours remain for the answer to this haunting riddle.
I can't think of any composer that fits the description.
James Horner began his career in the late 70's not 80's... correct?
Who else could it be???
With the help of IMDb and some wild guessing I have come up with some strange names which I never heard of.
Anyway, perhaps the lost scores of Madonna will surface once and for all!
Didn't you know that besides providing services for Danceteria and Dunkin' Donuts her early New York life was devoted into writing cheesy film score music?
Neither did I of all people!...
Luv that gorgeous bitch!

Still think this might be Chris Young - his scores for WIZARDS OF LOST KINGDOM / BARBARIAN QUEEN / WHEELS OF FIRE :)
First two scores also contained music by James Horner - probably from Battle Beyond the stars as far as my memory servers correctly so probably are not too long scores to fit on a single CD and there is a bootleg of Wheels of Fire with about 40 minutes of music that could be lowered a bit since it is quite repetitive altough a good score...
We will see in 8-9 hours :)

Since most people go for James Horner, JADE would be a nice score to release. I am waiting for this one for years...
s.tonkens, November 30, 2006; 3:18 PM

Wow - are you serious about JADE? Horner hardly wrote any music for that one, and most of it merges with the source cues. I also was after that one for some time and finally managed to get my hands on a *beep* release - but it sure wasn't worth the wait. I would buy it if it came out, but only for the reason that i always buy regular releases of previously unreleased scores that I own a *beep* version of.
Please - BSX - *every* Horner you can get your hands on - except JADE ;-)
No offense, just my opinion...

What about the second score (early 80s) from a veteran composer that was previously unreleased? I mean, they're saying it was a Sci-Fi epic, which stars a well known actor in the Sci-Fi world.
drakemarone, November 30, 2006; 3:54 PM

Ah, good question - i've been breaking my mind on this one.
I mean, i was THE sci-fi buff in the 80's... but one of the genre's best known actors? Cheese-us (fondue?), that could be anyone and no-one. William Shatner? Harrison Ford?
I think I'm not seeing it because it's right in front of me... They're talking about a Sci-Fi EPIC here... I don't know - Flash Gordon by Howard Blake? ;-) Hardly an epic :-)))
Star Crash by John Barry? Also hardly an epic - and Hasselhoff... ah, getting sick.

The Cat is out of the bag - 2,5 hours early...
"Cinemusic: The Film Music Of Chuck Cirino"
Anybody else disappointed?

Yeah a bit but saves me some money I guess.. Not ordering that. Not to dog it or anythign I am sure it is fine for what it is but nothing I need.
JackDVD78, November 30, 2006; 6:34 PM

Same here - the clips didn't do it for me - must admit i never heard of the guy before. No problem though - it's great to see "small scale" scores (nothing bad intended) released!
Yep, saves money - maybe for the Intrada Signature Edition coming up? ;-)

I am really happy with this release... considering the amount of necessary releases recently and the list of upcoming films with scores I am soooo many interested in, it's good to save some bucks :)
Altough I would probably still prefered Horner or Young :(
petrkocanda, November 30, 2006; 7:44 PM

WOW
that's a must to my collection (no sarcasm).
I'm always curious on such unknown scores.
