Would like others support in getting this Grusin score released!
The score for the 1980 film "MY BODYGUARD"/ Does anyone think that maybe, just maybe since "LUCAS was recently released, we may get this? They are both from Dave Grusin, and both from 20th Century Fox pictures. This is one of the last unreleased scores that I have as a holy grail so to speak. I know there are plenty of others who would LOVE to see this score get the treatment it deserves, so if anyone thinks contacting Mr. Gruisn or Varese Sarabande would help, by all measn join me in an attempt to see this score come to life on cd. Any and help and suggestions would be appreciated, and for everyone who has had this on their wish list for the longest time let me know so we can see if there is hope yet for this. By the way will there be a new batch of club releases for the month of December? If so maybe somoene else holy grail will be listed! Also anyone who has started these petions I have read about, by all means let me know what kind of response you got and any results.

Response to "MY BODYGUARD"
Unfortunately, I have no answers either. I would LOVE to see this score released. I grew up watching this movie and I've always loved the music. I never realized that it was Dave Gruisin. "The Goonies" score is another one of my holy grail CDs (I have seem to have so many). I am still waiting for my copy of "Lucas". It was shipped to my previous address (even though I entered my NEW address) so hopefully the replacement will arrive soon.
I guess just writing to CD labels like Varese Sarabande would be our best bet. I haven't heard of any petitions or anything though. Most people I know have never heard of "MY BODYGUARD" so it may be difficult. But who knows?

Varese does not release individual monthly CD club titles like Intrada & FSM or some other labels. They release a few, I believe 3 or 4 times every year which in reality amounts to approximately the same as the other soundtrack record labels I mentioned.
Anyway, even though I don't believe I have viewed the film "My Bodyguard", I'll be glad to help out in a petition concerning Grusin's score.
If Varese though is willing to listen, that's another story.

MY BODYGUARD has always been one of my favourite Grusin scores (if not the favourite). It would be great if Varèse, Intrada, FSM or any other label releasing soundtracks from 20th Century Fox, could make a proper release on CD.
I will support every petition on it.
Best regards,

I agree. I love that movie, and I can't wait for the score's release!
You've really been spinning your wheels on this, haven't you!

Thanks to everyone who has answered and helped me out! The first email has been sent to Varese Sarabande and one to Dave Grusin's offiicial email address. I am sure we can at least get a response from these folks however; if it goes any further than that is the question. Thanks again, and I am keeping my fingers ctrossed!!!

Hello,
I saw that you guys sent a letter to Dave Grusin's Official email address.. I would be willing to send one as well, as I am a huge fan of his work, especially his unreleased masterpiece, The Goonies. Would you be so kind as to share the address with me, so that I might suggest a release of both The Goonies, and My Bodyguard? That way we would be helping each other's cause, and hopefully starting a chain of awesome releases. Thanks !

I honestly thought I was alone in wanting to see this score released. I have wanted this score since the film's initial theatrical release. I remember one day going to every screening of that day (seven!) just to hear the music. This music NEEDS to be released on CD. This is my ABSOLUTE favorite Dave Grusin score. Tell me how I can help, and I will certainly do so.

Thanks to all who have responded! The way you can help is to email Mr. Grusin through his website and Varese Sarabande as well. The fantastic score from LUCAS was released last month, so I certainly think it is within the realm of possibility that this may happen. If any one gets any replies form either of the places that I suggested emailing, by all means let me know!
Thanks,

Which site exactly is Mr. Grusin's official page? Do you contact him through his record label page? I have been trying to find his information for quite some time now, but always run into the "I- don't -know- him- personally-" site owner conflict. I wish to express the marketability of Grusin's fine work, starting with the use of user comments from various sites, (the Goonies soundtrack reviews on Amazon.com are evidence by themselves),
in hopes that he may consider becoming active in their release.

Just found this thread!
I've recently purchased Lucas, and it's left me wanting more Grusin!
My Bodyguard is a mini masterpiece that should've gotten released years ago. I'm hoping that both My Bodyguard and The Goodbye Girl will get a release sometime soon!

If you love Grusin's work, I have started a petition at www.petitionspot.com for Varese Sarabande to release Grusin's The Goonies score.
I have spoken with their representatives over the telephone, and they have expressed an interest.According to them, my petition, and a posting I started on www.thegoonies.org has generated enthusiasm to the point that they've been flooded with calls/emails demanding the score. We should expect something relatively-soon,if all goes well with rights isues.I feel that a petition full of signatures might jumpstart them into action, if the fan demand is made more concrete.
Show your support by visiting and giving it a sign, (search goonies score, and it should come up). Thanks so much.

Over at the Intrada forums I got a repsonse concerning the score to MY BODYGUARD. I have no way of confirming if this is indeed true however; it appears that the score to this 1980 classic has been lost. It seems like I have heard that about other scores such as several of the Friday the 13th film scores. Well if that is the case then sadly it may never see the light of day.
